If you are looking to plan a vacation that the whole family will love, then you should definitely consider visiting the Planet Hollywood Resort in Cancun, Mexico.
The minute you arrive at Planet Hollywood Cancun you realize that you are in for a fun vacation. Your initial entry into the property sets the tone as the staff cheers and claps for your grand entrance. Once inside, you’ll find yourself surrounded by movie memorabilia and decor that screams Hollywood.
When you combine all of this with Planet Hollywood’s all-inclusive dining venues and bars, their themed parties, a fabulous spa, and a multitude of family-friendly activities, it is easy to see how the whole family would have a blast at this resort.
Located in Costa Mujeres, an area just north of Cancun’s lively Hotel Zone, Planet Hollywood allows guests the opportunity to explore all that Cancun has to offer while feeling worlds away from the hustle and bustle. The long stretches of white sand beaches beckon families to come and enjoy the turquoise waters of the Caribbean.
But the beaches are only a piece of this resort. Let’s dive into all of the things that Planet Hollywood Cancun has to offer and see why it is the perfect getaway for the whole family!

2. All-Inclusive Property
Of course, expenses can add up quickly when you are planning a vacation for the entire family. Luckily, Planet Hollywood Cancun is an all-inclusive resort. That means that once you book your trip, you don’t have to get your wallet out again if you don’t want to!
All inclusive at Planet Hollywood means that you have 11 bars and restaurants to choose from, so there is surely something to please everyone in the family. Just remember to bring tip money! A few dollars per meal or bar stay should do.
In addition to your food and drinks being covered, so is your entertainment. This includes nightly themed events, sporting facilities, pools, waterparks, mini-golf, and more!
3. Numerous Room Choices
With over 600 suites, Planet Hollywood Cancun is sure to have rooms that suit everyone in your family.
Their junior suites include one king or two queen beds and a sofa bed along with a private balcony or terrace. If you need a little more privacy, then consider one of the family suites. These suites range from rooms with a sliding glass door to one and two bedroom suites offering even more privacy.
You can customize your room even further when you choose an ocean or garden view. Some even come with semi-private plunge pools and jacuzzi tubs.
If you really want to have the ultimate travel experience, upgrade to Planet Hollywood’s STAR Class Treatment. The STAR Class ensures you get to enjoy the best that the resort has to offer, including upgraded robes in your room, a private STAR Class pool, an upgraded room service menu, a personal agent on-site, and more!
Planet Hollywood also offers the option of leaving the kids and grandkids on the family side of the resort while you stay on the adults-only side of the resort. I don’t think it gets any better than that!

Pro Tip: This property is huge, but has concrete paths throughout. If you would like for your room to be close to the majority of the restaurants and lobby, then put in a special request when you make your reservation.

4. Activities For The Whole Family
The family definitely won’t be bored while visiting Planet Hollywood. Whether you are looking for the perfect place to lay on the beach or an afternoon full of competitive sports, this resort has you covered.
Small children will love playing in the Splash Park, while kids of all ages will feel right at home floating around the resort’s lazy river. Of course, there are also multiple pools for your family to enjoy, including an adults-only pool and a pool exclusively for STAR Class guests.

If you’re feeling adventurous, challenge your family to a FlowRider competition. See who can boogie board or surf the longest on the resort’s FlowRider. Just note, there is an additional charge for this activity.
If you don’t want to pay extra for the FlowRider, then challenge your family to a game of mini-golf, tennis, or basketball, all of which are included in your stay. When the kids need to burn off some energy, but you just want to relax, then send them to the resort’s trampoline park and game room.
For those of you that like to exercise on vacation, Planet Hollywood Cancun has you covered. You can enjoy participating in indoor and outdoor classes, or just hit the exercise machines and get your cardio in.
Pro Tip: I highly recommend participating in a morning yoga class during your visit. The classes are held at a great location and are truly the perfect way to start your day!

5. Dining And Cocktails
Planet Hollywood Cancun offers guests 11 restaurants and 11 bars to choose from. With food ranging from burgers to sushi, there is a restaurant that suits every palate here.
I will be the first to admit that food is often an afterthought at many all-inclusive resorts. I have been to numerous all-inclusives that serve up the exact same dishes in their ala-carte restaurants that they do in their buffets.
That is definitely not the case at Planet Hollywood Cancun. Their buffet, which is served in the opulently decorated SoCal Gourmet Emporium, is anything but boring buffet food. With numerous hot and cold options, carving stations, and fresh cook stations serving up a variety of food choices, SoCal is the perfect place for a meal if your family includes several picky eaters.
Of course, the resort also offers numerous options for ala-carte dining. Guy’s! Burger Joint serves up delicious burgers and fries from the acclaimed chef Guy Fieri, while Gusto Italian Trattoria offers perfectly cooked Italian food paired with a great bottle of wine.
In addition to these, Planet Hollywood also has a sports bar, an Indian restaurant, a Mexican restaurant, a steakhouse, and my personal favorite, a Japanese restaurant. I especially love how you can get dinner and a show when you choose to have dinner at the Japanese restaurant’s hibachi table!
Food isn’t the only thing that is delicious at Planet Hollywood Cancun, they also pride themselves on their craft cocktails. Serving up great libations from the 11 bars on the property makes it easy to enjoy a drink any time you would like. One of my favorite bars is the Blue Lagoon Bar, which is inside of a grotto on the lazy river.
Pro Tip: If you like craft cocktails, then consider upgrading to the STAR Class. The STAR Class gives you access to premium liquor and to the Green Room Lounge, a nice hangout area exclusively for STAR Class guests.
6. Kids Club
Kids ages 4–12 can take part in all of the fun activities offered at Planet Hollywood’s Kids Club. Even the kids club at this resort is on theme with the hotel. Kids can enjoy numerous activities that spark their imagination.
Whether they are singing a song, creating a costume, directing a show, or writing a script, they become immersed in the land of Hollywood stardom. There are even showtime classes that walk them through the entire process of putting on a show.

7. Planet Hollywood Spa
While the kids are having fun in the kids club, the adults can have some downtime and enjoy a fabulous spa treatment during their time at Planet Hollywood Cancun. You can choose from a wide variety of treatments ranging from hydrotherapy to full body treatments.
I loved the cave-like feeling of the spa. The environment is dark and relaxing with touches of soft amber light illuminating the walls and floors in just the right places. Spending a few hours here really will make you feel like you’re on vacation!
Pro Tip: Even if you don’t want a full-body treatment, at least try out the hydrotherapy treatment. After visiting a series of saunas, you enjoy multiple pools of water with jets that help wash away your aches and pains. At the end of the treatment, you are wrapped in warm towels and given a scalp massage. It’s amazing!
8. Tours And Excursions
When the family is ready to explore the Cancun area, you can make all of the arrangements right from your resort. Representatives are available to answer all of your questions and arrange the perfect tour or excursion for your family.
Some of my favorite excursions in the area include a catamaran trip to Isla Mujeres, exploring the Mayan Ruins of Chichen Itza or Tulum, snorkeling in the beautiful Caribbean Sea, having fun at XCaret, or going on a shopping excursion in Cancun or Playa del Carmen.
