The nation’s train service has launched a fare sale offering low fares for a limited time around the holiday.
The Amtrak Loves You Sale is offering buy-one, get-one fares, encouraging people to purchase a ticket and bring a companion at no cost for nationwide travel.
“Skip the flowers and chocolates this year and take advantage of the Amtrak Loves You Sale,” Amtrak said in announcing the deal.
Tickets must be purchased by February 16, and travel must take place between March 1 and August 31 of this year.
“Amtrak is offering a great way for customers to travel for a weekend away or on a leisurely vacation,” the company said. ”From couples, to moms, to friends, to loved ones, Amtrak encourages individuals to gift a trip on Amtrak with its limited-time companion sale.”
Fares are as low as $18 as part of the deal. Sample coach fares include:
- Philadelphia to Washington ($18)
- New York to Philadelphia ($18)
- Chicago to Milwaukee ($25)
- Oklahoma City to Fort Worth ($31)
The deal is also being offered on business class fares, starting at $51.
There are countless routes available as part of the deal, all part of the buy-one, get-one offer.
Customers can check fares and receive the discount by using the code V214 when booking a trip at Amtrak.com/vdaysale.
The sale is valid for one free companion rail fare traveling on the same reservation as one full adult fare. Companions must travel together and be booked on the same reservation.
Customers who book are allowed two bring two personal items and two carry-on bags at no cost. Customers are also given the freedom to use their phones and electronic devices on board at all times — without switching to airplane mode.
The deal applies to all travel except services on Auto Train, Pennsylvanian, Keystone Service, and 7000-8999 Thruways.
The deal is also valid only for coach or business class travel. No upgrades to sleepers are allowed.
