Getting to travel the world and see beautiful sites has always been a favorite thing of mine. Yet, no matter how much I look forward to the destination, there’s always one thing standing in the way of me and my dream vacation: the flight descending.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had horrific ear pain as my ear drums burst during the descent. This lead to a head-splitting migraine, knocking me out for the rest of the day and, in extreme cases, the day after. I began dreading flights, knowing the pain I would have to deal with. As much fun as trips can be, it takes away some of the fun knowing what’s in store. But after a little research, I discovered EarPlanes. Now, I can’t image going on a flight without them.
What Are They?
EarPlanes are spiral ear plugs made with a hypoallergenic silicone to slow the shift in air pressure that occurs during descension. The decreased pressure puts less stress on the eardrum, helping to diminish discomfort. Cabin noise is also reduced by 20 decibels.
Use With Ease
To insert the EarPlanes, simply place one of the plugs in your ear and twist clockwise until they fit snuggly. Repeat with the other ear.
They’re Reusable
EarPlanes can be used for up to two flights before needing to be replaced.
There’s Two Sizes
A full size is available for adults, while a shorter option is made for children. If the adult size feels too big, the child EarPlanes will fit adults with smaller ears.
An App Will Tell You When To Insert
The EarPlanes+ app assesses cabin air pressure and sends you a notification when it’s time to use the EarPlanes.
What Do Other People Think?
“I’ve had ear issues pretty much my entire life. The issue with air pressure has affected me so badly that I couldn’t fly for about 15 years because of how dizzy I would get when I flew. I would feel even the slightest movement of the plane and my ears would wig out and I would get horrible vertigo. I tried Dramamine, Bonine, and the patch behind the ear, and they never worked. My new job required me to travel, so I knew I needed to figure out how to not lose sleep worrying about flying so as a last ditch effort I bought these on Amazon.
“I couldn’t believe how well these worked, it was completely life changing for me. I noticed instantly during takeoff that I didn’t feel the ‘Motion’ of the plane ascending like I always did before, or when the plane would bank to turn, or during the descent (which was always the worst part of me). I am guessing the difference in pressure for me caused issues but most likely the largest issue was due to the anxiety knowing what I was in store for. I had 4 of the most ‘normal’ flights in my life because of EarPlanes. I could not thank this company enough for this product.” – John Taylor
“I hated to fly when I was younger, and even as I started to age, the thought of anything less than a non-stop was a no-can-do, then a friend told me about these. I was willing to try anything at that time because I had no choice but to fly due to a family member passing.
“What a game changer!!
“The pressure and pain that I felt before? Gone! The tears and embaressment? GONE! I was actually worried that they ‘upgraded’ them and thought it would change what was already perfect, but nope, just as good, if not better!
“I gave 4 stars for noise cancellation just in the event someone wanted them strictly for that. Noise and voice are at a nice quiet level but you can still hear the instructions on a plane if an emergency should come up. (Personally I love that, so for me it was all 5’s!!” – Jolene
They’re Now An Essential On My Packing List
As I’m gearing up for a trip to Disney World next week, one of the first things I made sure to buy was a set of these EarPlanes. They’re number one on my packing list, and they should be on yours too.
