United Airlines is revamping its bag drop system in seven hub airports, with the goal of extending the service around the country by the end of the year.
Streamlined Bag Drop
To use the system, you would just check in to your flight using the United Airlines app (found on the App Store and Google Play) and input how many bags you are checking into the flight. If applicable, you will also pay for the bags on the app. Once at the airport, simply go up to the designated bag drop area, scan your boarding pass, show your ID, and you’re done!
United Airlines hopes the new system will cut down on customer wait times in line and help get them through the airport faster.
Positive Feedback
United Airlines representatives hope the new baggage shortcut feature will allow travelers to check their bags in a minute or less. The airline received positive customer feedback during its testing at Newark International airport, so it rolled out the program to six more hub airports: Chicago O’Hare, Houston Bush Intercontinental, Los Angeles, Washington Dulles, San Francisco, and Denver. More airports should start using this skip the line feature by the end of 2022.
United Airlines is expanding the streamlined service in time for what it hopes to be a busy spring and summer travel season. The airline is also adding routes to its schedule and looking to supersonic jets to get passengers to international destinations quickly.
