There are many reasons why people are attracted to Bethany Beach, Delaware. Most obviously, the beach — long stretches of sandy coastline offer enough space for thousands to spread out and enjoy the sun. Immediately beyond the town of Bethany Beach lie dozens of additional beaches, some of which are perfect for tourists while others are accessible nature preserves. With Rehoboth Beach 13 miles to the north, Fenwick Island 6 miles to the south, and Ocean City, Maryland 9 miles further south of there, Bethany Beach offers great access to a wide stretch of coastline and an even greater wealth of inland waterways.
But it’s more than just water that brings people to Delaware’s lovely beach towns. Visitors can enjoy the area’s fantastic shopping opportunities regardless of the weather. It isn’t just Delaware’s lack of sales tax that makes Bethany Beach a great place to shop (though that certainly helps!) — from the outlets on Rehoboth’s “mile of style” to the timeless vintage finds in Bethany’s famed vintage boutiques, visitors will leave the area not only with tans and pleasant memories but also with great goods acquired at bargain prices.
Oh, and did we mention that Bethany Beach boasts more than a half dozen golf courses in a 10-mile vicinity?
Bethany Beach is an excellent destination for family fun. This is true whether your family includes children or not. We’ve found 10 wonderful waterfront condo and house rentals from which to enjoy all the area has to offer.
Wrangling to get a large group together for a vacation can be hard. Picking the perfect accommodation can make it so much easier. With that in mind, this luxurious, 5,000-square-foot ocean view house is certainly worth considering. With a family room, great room, open-concept kitchen, six bedrooms, and room for six cars, this house really does have room for everyone. The dining areas are huge. The massive fridge can accommodate big family-style meals.
It is situated in a somewhat quieter area between Bethany Beach and Fenwick Island. If the seaside views from the terrace ever get old, take a stroll around the canal-filled neighborhood nearby or sit and marvel at the Little Assawoman Bay.
North of Bethany Beach proper, this large house is located in a relatively quiet area closer to Delaware Seashore State Park. All that lies between this condo and a private boardwalk is a small stretch of dunes. Multiple east-facing balconies and terraces offer great views of the quiet seas and sands. This property is ideal for a family (or two) looking to enjoy quieter beach-time fun in a less busy area. It is closer to the area’s parks and nature preserves than the famous boardwalk, but Bethany is still just a few miles away.
The accommodation itself boasts beautiful granite countertops, two bedrooms with one twin and one full, a queen bedroom, and a master with excellent sunrise views.
Recently renovated, this oceanfront cottage is a good and affordable fit for two families traveling together. The local government bills South Bethany as “the quietest beach resort.” It lacks the shopping streets and busy Bethany Beach boardwalk but boasts quieter beaches and a network of canals and other inland waterways for boating and fishing. In any case, Bethany proper is just one mile away.
This property features a Scandinavian kitchen, a ping-pong table, and a screened-in porch with a view of the ocean. Practically built into the sand, the low porch really makes visitors feel like they are a part of the dunes.
With stunning views of the water from almost every room, this home is a great way to let the watery riches of this region soak in. It sits on the shores of the expansive Indian River Bay, with panoramic windows giving excellent views of the imposing bridge over the water. It has three bedrooms, accommodating up to eight guests. These consist of a master suite, a room with a king-size bed, and a kids’ room with a full and two single beds. Light floods into the spacious common room, brightening up guests’ mornings and encouraging them to get out and get the most out of their beach vacation.
This townhouse in the Tower Shores neighborhood is just north of the center of town, offering guests a quieter environment and easier access to Delaware Seashore State Park. It’s just a mile and a half away from Coin Beach, where visitors still comb the sands for coins lost in a 1785 shipwreck. Though there’s only one restaurant within walking distance, it’s a good one well-loved by locals: Matt’s Fish Camp. The house has an enclosed deck with an outdoor private shower for getting clean after a day on the beach. There’s no need to bring your own beach equipment as the owners have stocked up for you. For indoor play, games and puzzles are provided. This house is a good bargain for a family (or two) ready to have fun on the beach.
Perched on the shores of the Indian River Bay just a few miles from the town of Bethany Beach and 1 mile from the Atlantic, this townhouse offers great value to large groups. It can comfortably fit up to 12 guests thanks to four rollaway beds. It’s a good fit for smaller parties that can fit into its three bedrooms (one has a queen, another a queen and bunk, and the third fits a queen and a twin). Guests get access to a community pool and a boat launch, from which rentals are available. Stay here for great views of the bay and inland waterway activities without giving up access to the beach and other attractions of Bethany Beach.
This single-family vacation home sits on a lovely canal. It’s still technically waterfront property, and in any case, the beach is just seven houses down. In addition to fishing on the backyard dock, the owners invite guests to bring their own boats to take full advantage of the many lakes, bays, and other waterways accessible from the backdoor. Boats of all kinds are available for rent. York Beach shops are well within walking distance, as are numerous restaurants and McCabe’s Gourmet Market.
There’s off-street parking for four cars and plenty of room for up to eight guests. This isn’t a condo, townhouse, or apartment, but a genuinely private single-family home. The kitchen is spacious, the common areas comfortable, and the bedrooms cozy. If you are hearing the call of the waters, take a look at this property.
