11 Glamorous Malibu Beach Houses You Should Rent Now

    William Stupp
    November 20, 2022

Immortalized in film and song, Malibu Beach is an American gem, a place deeply ingrained in the popular consciousness as the epitome of the West Coast lifestyle. Though known for its maddeningly expensive hilltop mansions, Malibu isn’t just for the rich and famous. It has a wealth of waterfront rentals that will leave an impression on your mind as indelible as those left by the Pacific on the rocky coastline.

    Videos by TravelAwaits

Hop on the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and you’ll see a myriad of beautiful spots and architectural wonders. With hiking trails above, surfers below, and dozens of incredible restaurants and boutique shops in between, the charms of Malibu aren’t exactly hidden. With the museums and lesser-known attractions of Los Angeles all reachable by car, Malibu is an excellent place to discover southern California’s wonderful attractions while maintaining a base sheltered from the sprawl.

Warm and sunny all year round, Malibu is an enchanting place to take your next vacation. To help you on your way, here is a list of 11 Malibu beach house vacation rentals, each and every one on the water.

Comfortable Home In Eastern Malibu$875/nightly avg

A godsend for couples keen to explore Los Angeles from the comfort of a Malibu retreat, this oceanside home is ready for new renters. A short drive from Santa Monica and many other LA attractions, it nonetheless offers the unobstructed mountain and ocean views that make Malibu so attractive. A king bedroom sits high above the waves. Step past the fireplace, open the sliding doors, step out onto the balcony, and lord over the water as if you were sailing on one of the huge ships that regularly pull into the harbor at San Pedro. The home has a full kitchen, comfortable seating areas, and a second bedroom fitted with a bunk bed.

    We enjoyed our stay.
We just stayed at this property and really enjoyed our stay. Pulling into/out of the driveway is not for the faint of heart, but we were able to handle it. We would stay here again.
Really nice ocean views, cute house and a very responsive host. Looking forward to staying here again. My only critic is having a more comfortable couch to relax and view the incredible ocean waves.
The home was very clean and well taken care of. We enjoyed the downstairs hot tub.
As they say in real estate everything is location, location, location. Boy, does this house fit the bill. West of the PCH, the ocean is literally on top of you and at high tide actually crashing against the house. i would say the view is magical. Every night we would watch the sun set from the deck, what a treat. The staircase leading to the beach allowed us to walk the beach daily at low tide and that was terrific. The house itself is perfect for a couple and or a couple and child. It certainly was not big but who needs that with those views. P.S. one morning we spent two hours watching dolphins play in front of us.The owner and property manager were outstanding answering all our questions quickly and if needed would be available to come over for help.If I had a complaint, I would have liked more hot water in the kitchen and I did not see a blender.Overall a great experience and I look forward to coming back in future years

This is a beautifully decorated bungalow and super close to everything! We will definitely be back!
Cruz was extremely helpful during the whole check in. it was so easy… will definitely be back!!
My husband and I had the perfect vacation staying in this beachfront suite. It’s location is stunning. You can hear the waves breaking beneath you. Check in is easy. The suite is clean, and had everything we needed. We found restaurants, bars, local beaches and food stores, really easily, just a few minutes away. We spent 10 days here but could have easily stayed for longer. It was exactly what we needed.
Wonderful location and a true beach cottage. It’s small so most ideal for 2-3 people. The location and sounds of the waves crashing at night was pure heaven!

I rented this place for my friends and me. The 3 things I want to point out are — there were sands on the bed but as we spent at least 2 days, we realized how hard was it to get rid of sands since we went out to the ocean. it was a difficult process to turn on the dryer as it was very high and we had to get a chair to stand on it and stick our head between the gap to turn it on.renovation next door was still going on but it didn’t bother us and they were super nice. overall, these minor issues, we still really enjoyed the stay and will recommend for friends and family. We will rent this place again in the future.
My husband and I went to Malibu for a little vacation for his birthday. It was a beautiful experience. The house is wonderful right on the beach with amazing views. It’s a great place to getaway, we will be back!
This was an exceptional weekend stay at the beach. Outstanding communication by the property manager, who allowed us an early check-in and late check-out, in addition to making our last minute booking work. Dog friendly, which is hard to find, and our two pups thoroughly enjoyed their time running on the beach and lounging on the deck. Great location, just west of Neptune’s Net and over county line, within close proximity to Trancas Cyn restaurants and groceries, as well as Point Dume. We will definitely return when we need a relaxing weekend to disconnect again!
A beautiful house, right on the water, clean, and as advertised. Michelle was super responsive.
The property was nice but there was no hot water and we had little girls staying with us. They couldn’t shower the whole time there. The experience was horrible for what we paid. I have a regret booking this place and I will never book again. The people running the place where no help out all when we told them about the issue

Great way to enjoy Malibu – private beach and right on the sand. Amber is amazing and takes care of everything for you!
I stayed for 10 days off-season, using the property to do some work, but I was keen to be able to walk my dog on the beach which was literally perfect. In the house, the sound of the surf just below the deck never gets old. The cottage is well-appointed, and the host Amber has taken pains to make sure the kitchen and bathroom are well-stocked with essentials. I will also note that Amber was a very considerate, communicative, and generous host.
Beautiful property in the best location right on top of the water. Waves crashing through the balcony and a show of surfers daily. Place was immaculate and like everyone said, Amber made the difference – super responsive from when I inquired about the property until the end! Going back for sure!!!
This is a small beautifully located one room, small home with a deck that sits out over the sand and water. It is perfectly situated for a couple and idea for Covid breaks when you can’t really enjoy LA culture or even eating out. It is self-contained, with waves crashing beneath your balcony and a dreamy bed to sleep in. Bring your walking shoes, groceries and books, blue tooth speaker for music and your favorite wines. It’s perfect. It’s at the northernmost point in Malibu about 12 miles from Oxnard. Quiet beach of about 12 houses sitting on the sand.Lovely. We will try to come back when we can. Amber greeted us and delivered a duraflame log for our fire which was a welcome gift when it cooled off. It is not inexpensive but if you are not travelling anywhere else, it’s a blissful break and worth it.
This apartment is all about the location. There’s nothing better than waking up to see dolphins playing just off your deck before you even get out of bed. While the space isn’t large, it’s perfect if you’re just looking to relax on the beach. Restaurants and “downtown” Malibu are within 10-15 minutes and incredibly easy to get to via car. Amber was incredibly helpful and responsive to our questions and made our stay seamless. We highly recommend this property!

Such a beautiful house. Very cosy feel. Very clean and manager left treats for us. Beds comfy and listening to the ocean as you sleep is so magical. The beach is so clean and quiet and it’s easy to get anything delivered here. I highly recommend this place and would come again for a quiet retreat. Some traffic noise from PCH but the ocean is louder 🙂
    Lovely.

    Palace On The PCH$2,150/nightly avg

Just a few miles west of Pacific Palisades, this huge home on the PCH nevertheless feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. With three stories and five bedrooms, it can comfortably accommodate large groups of travelers. The last in a short line of houses, guests will enjoy access to a particularly large stretch of private beach. Enjoy drinks stirred by the ocean breeze from the upper balconies or dine at the water’s edge on the lowest terrace. With abundant comfortable spaces indoors and out, you might struggle to make it to all of the local eateries and attractions.

Lots of room for all 10 of us in our extended family to spread out, and to celebrate my daughter’s USC graduation! Water too cold to swim right now, but terrific location on the beach!
Kevin was amazing to work with, super fast with communications and was able to address a few things almost immediately. The property itself was absolutely stunning. The private downstairs suite was a winner for one of the couples that was staying with us. Everything in the main house was top notch. And when it says beach access, it REALLY means beach access. You are literally on the sand after going down 15 steps of stairs. The booking experience was extremely easy, and once again, Kevin shone here as well. He was very flexible with our needs and made sure we had everything we needed for an amazing stay.My wife and I are already thinking about booking this property again next year.Kevin, to you directly:THANK YOU! For everything you did for us, the quick communications, the flexibility for answering so many of our questions. You really made us feel welcome as if it was our second home.Thank you again!
We had the perfect holiday with 3 generations at this amazing home.We kayaked, walked on the beach, hunted for seashells, saw live sand dollars, watched dolphins and pelicans, and hiked. We walked to Duke’s and ate the best calamari I’ve ever eaten. The home was very clean. Every bedroom had a view. You can watch the sunrise & sunset over brilliant blue water. There was enough parking for 4 SUVs. Everything about our stay was first class! If you are doordash-ing, we loved the lasagna & Magical AF pizza from Dagwoods.
We can’t wait to come back!!!
Overall-3.8The good-The property & the location is beautiful. It sits right on the ocean and it has lots of windows to see out and appreciate the view. The property is very large & can accommodate quite a few people. Most of the bedrooms had black out curtains which was very nice. Unlike most properties, where only the master suite is spacious, this property had large rooms throughout. The host-was accommodating and helpful on some items and not attentive on others. Part of this might have been due to 4th of July weekend. But the night before our check out, he texted us that we needed to leave by 10 AM. Our rental contract and the VRBO listing, stated that checkout time was 11 AM. I told him that the listing stated that the check out was 11 AM and he still responded that he could not accommodate us for a “late checkout”. Don’t advertise check out at 11 AM and then bully your tenants to leave at 10am. Very bad last impression. The bad-master bedroom had a huge window without black out curtains. If you like sun coming through the windows in the morning, then you’ll appreciate the master suite. For those of us who want to wake up to a darkened room and want to sleep in, this was a huge problem. I did contact the host, and he did bring a curtain & rod but a lot of light still came through. The bad-a/c-The system had two very huge issues. The first is that the whole bottom suite/floor, the AC did not work at all. I contacted the host on Saturday, July 3 and we were staying till Saturday, July 10. He sent an electrician on July 7 to look at it. It was not fixed by the time we left on July 10. My family who was staying on the lower level, left early due to the humidity and mugginess of the room and lack of ventilation in the bottom suite. This was sad.A/c-The next problem was that even though the AC worked very well on two of the floors, the thermostat was a nest unit. Even though we would set the nest to 72°, it would automatically adjust to 78° constantly. So at night when we lowered the thermostat to cool it off so we could sleep, it wouldn’t matter cause I would constantly adjust to 78°. So unless you’re willing to wake up every 30 minutes and set it back to a lower temperature, the AC wasn’t very usable. The bad-when we arrived there was massive amounts of sand, dirt & cobwebs on the decks that hadn’t been cleaned off in a while. Host did offer to come clean but was inconvenient. We would return. Beautiful house and venue

The house is supremely convenient with a nice sandy beach. Perfect for a family getaway!
My family and I had a wonderful time at this beach house getaway. Great location. Parking is a little tricky on the street (to be expected) and we wished it had a BBQ to enjoy out back, but we would happily return. The host was very kind and easy to work with as well. Very enjoyable vacation!
Cannot say enough about this absolute gem. The setting is unparalleled and you will simply not find better on Carbon Beach.
Amazing time in Malibu and at the property. You hear the waves 24 hours a day. Walking to dinner most nights was great. Very comfortable property and the family had a great time!
Excellent beach house with awesome deck and open floor plan. Big hot tub and great Italian restaurant right across PCH that delivers. Thumbs up.

Really easy to rent; great concierge service
House was amazing with incredible views. Very clean with nice modern look. Easy beach access. Kitchen stocked with just about everything you need. Only issue was check in process. We arrived in the evening and nobody was there at the property to physically check us in. Check in was completed over the phone via texting and phone call. Less than ideal for such a nice property but everything was great otherwise and would definitely stay here again.
The location of this home on Malibu Road was very important. It is a very big plus, as opposed to being on the main coastal highway. The highlight of the Home is the living area which includes the kitchen and the main living area with unbeatable outstanding views in the two walls of a solid windows with sliding glass doors that allow for the amazing sounds of the Pacific Ocean and all its power. There also is sliding glass doors from the master bedroom both leading to a very comfortable deck area to relax or have a meal at a glass enclosed area with a large table. It protects from the elements of wind or rain. This is a three bedroom 2 1/2 bath home. The master bathroom could use some window coverings because cars are parked right outside on the street and for privacy purposes, it would make it more comfortable using the bathroom which is very nice and a large sized bathroom. The view takes your breath away no matter how many times you look at it, especially with the major changing tides and cloud coverage. The furniture is beautiful but the seating in the living room is on furniture that is very low so we chose to sit on extra pillows to be able to not miss any of the view.Malibu has exceptional restaurants including Geoffrey’s, The Sunset, V’s and Maestro’s, all with ocean views. The staff in charge of this home were very attentive and did their best to accommodate us and help with any help we needed, which really was very little – mainly figuring out the TV. A little later checkout was also allowed due to our later plane flight.I would definitely recommend a stay at this beautiful home with modern decor. As they say, location, location, location!
My family really enjoyed our visit to Malibu! This place is on a great quiet side street with fabulous views & easy beach access. Beautiful restaurants and local hiking. Morning of our departure saw dolphins & whales. Perfect ending!
Such a beautiful place a perfect location on the beach in Malibu! I wouldn’t change anything about this wonderful house. Absolutely perfect for a Malibu getaway.

Wrought from stone and sitting on an idyllic oceanside acre, this enviable property in West Malibu will doubtless impress anyone lucky enough to pass through its gates. Can’t say enough about this property! Had my wedding here and all anyone could talk about was how amazing the home and view was! We felt like we were in heaven! And Tom was amazing!
My family stays in Malibu a few times every year and always right on the beach. This is the most secluded we have stayed and they pool was perfect and very warm. The beach is just a private path, NOT hundreds of steps down a bluff. Its perfect. You will see the doors mentioned in another review. Yes they are different but they always opened up and the place was great! Kids loved the media/movie room and with the Control4 systems everything worked easy. That’s a FIRST! Yes its pricey but you pay what you get for! Do it! Home is on the Northern side of Malibu which I preferred as you get almost no one on your beach!
This is an incredibly special property in terms of its views of the ocean. However, the property needs some TLC. Doors are hard to lock, lights and ceilings are in need of care, and the floors are scrapped. Towels and sheets were mismatched. The lawn is great to have, but you cannot have kids on the grass as there is plentiful bunny poop! Net-net, a really beautifully designed property, with an easily accessible property manager, but home is not “luxury” in terms of the interior. The views are though!
This property is absolutely breathtaking with a beautiful view of the ocean and the coolest features (Heated pool and floors, universal sound system). I helped plan an event here and the property manager, Tom, was willing to answer all my questions every step of the way. I would definitely recommend staying here.
    Awesome.
