Still, regardless of the season or the date, DC is a great stopover for those on the hunt for American culture. It’s got a long list of world-class museums (many of which are free) and even more historic sites and markers to explore.
But the city is also home to lesser-known endeavors, including a burgeoning list of surprising culinary projects and a distinct music scene, from Go-go to punk. You’ll find great street fashion, a thriving LGBTQ scene, and more cultural elements that go far beyond DC’s political focus.
You’ll also find a surprisingly exceptional list of hotels, from quirky boutique properties to larger-than-life luxury openings. While DC has a solid list of affordable Airbnbs to choose from, you might want a little more flair when you visit the nation’s capital. If that’s the case, here’s where to start exploring hotels in Washington, DC.
I’ve categorized my recommendations based on budget. Just know that prices shift based on season, availability, and city-wide events, meaning the low-cost and mid-range hotels could hike up prices depending on demand.
