The Midwest is sexy.
Videos by TravelAwaits
Just keep saying it—you’ll start to feel the magic eventually.
While the region isn’t known for its flash, it’s got more than a few surprises hidden amid its amber waves of grain. Like castles, for example, and top-notch wineries, and unspoiled natural corridors. (It also has East Saint Louis, to be fair.)
And, if you know where to go, the Midwest also has its cozy little corners that are perfect for dropping off the map with your lover this Valentine’s Day. Whether a quiet neighborhood in a big city or a far-flung property hidden amid the trees, there are romantic Airbnbs in the Midwest waiting to give you respite… and a nice, long jacuzzi bath.
Ready to see what the region has to offer? Below, you can find some of the sexiest private rentals throughout the Midwest, including the Dakotas.
Airbnbs in the Midwest with hot tubs for your V-Day escape
The Lofts at Frost Fire (Walhalla, North Dakota)

Located on the grounds of a local ski resort, this rental is perfect for sporty couples who want to bust out their gear. The lofts are decked out with warm, upscale décor that touches on Scandinavian minimalism without losing its character. (The black walls are also moody as hell, delivering on that cozy atmosphere.) On the back porch, you can soak in the hot tub after a long day on the slopes. Or if you want to socialize, you can head to the resort’s bar and casino.
Mirror Cabin in the Black Hills (Lead, South Dakota)

This tiny home has a mirrored edifice, drawing you in as soon as you step onto the property. Though tiny, the rental includes a grand outdoor patio that has great views, along with a hot tub and fire pit. You can even enjoy the view from the patio from the large bed because those mirrored walls actually function like windows, letting you see all around the property while giving you total privacy.
Castle in the Sky (Rapid City, South Dakota)

This is a unique rental that’s located inside the guesthouse of a larger property that was never finished. You have the whole property to yourself—and a bespoke setup to appreciate. There are sweeping views, an indoor fireplace, a hot tub on the veranda, and other lush, well-placed features—including a slate staircase.
Boho – Safari Canvas Tent (Ashland, Nebraska)

This canvas tent comes with all the amenities you could need in February—including full heating capabilities. Located on 63 private acres, you can fully drop off the map with your lover at this location. Each glamping tent comes with its own hot tub, fire pits, and grills. Just know that you might not be alone if the other tents are occupied—which might not be a bad thing for any social butterflies out there!
Smoke & Mirrors (Bradleyville, Missouri)

Similar to the Mirror Cabin in the Black Hills (above), this tiny home has a fully mirrored exterior—it almost looks like a spaceship hidden in a forest. (In a cool way.) The interior is decked out with lux features, while the floor-to-ceiling windows give you a bird’s eye view of the surrounding hills. (Remember, the mirrored exterior gives you privacy on the outside with total visibility on the inside.) The property also includes a fire pit and hot tub outdoors.
The Perfect Retreat (Carthage, Missouri)

Located in a gorgeous little home on the plains, this rental might truly live up to its name. The interior has been renovated in a bright, cozy style that makes it feel larger. The back patio has also been refurbished and includes a small seating area and a hot tub. There’s even a large soaking tub indoors for my water-loving couples out there.
Treehouse in the Ozarks (Ozark, Missouri)

If you love a swanky, bespoke rental, look no further. This treehouse in the Ozarks isn’t a true treehouse—it’s more like an A-Frame with a long, narrow wooden walkway leading to the entrance. The interior includes gorgeous stone fireplaces and alcoves, along with plenty of woodwork. As a perk, this property has three bedrooms, making it great for any couples who are doing a group trip or who want to bring their kids along.
Riverview Cabin (Bellevue, Iowa)

Riverview Cabin is part of the Moon River Cabins property, which offers views of the Mississippi River and a communal pickleball court. The cabin also has its own private hot tub that comes with one huge perk for entertainment-lovers: a mounted TV that you can watch while you soak. Inside, you can relax in stylish, retro-outfitted rooms.
The Dome at Blueberry Hill (Cobden, Illinois)

Located in the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, this private dome is set on two acres near the charming village of Cobden. It comes with two beds, making it great for anyone with little ones. Ideally, you’ll have it to yourself (I’d take the upstairs bed—it has a skylight), but there’s also a barn on the grounds with plenty of games. I like that addition because it gives couples something to do during their downtime… assuming they can be pulled away from the hot tub.
The Tiny Shed (Fort Wayne, Indiana)

Set in Fort Wayne but slightly secluded thanks to the surrounding woodlands—which is great, because the home has floor-to-ceiling windows. Though the interior is tiny, it has a large soaking tub that’s perfect for a little scrub-a-dub time. The exterior includes a fire pit, and it looks like the host offers DIY s’mores setups. (Sorry, gang! No hot tub here – but I think the tub is a good substitute.)
Modern Wooded Cabin for Two (Logan, Ohio)

This 550-square-foot cabin sits on seven acres of private land. The interior is a treat for the eyes and includes those cozy wood features you’d expect from a cabin. There’s also a large porch with a grill, a sanded fire pit area, and a separate half-enclosed space for the hot tub. Plus, it comes with a few table games to keep you occupied.
Romantic Glamping Dome (Nelsonville, Ohio)

Check out one of the swankiest glamping domes I’ve ever seen. The décor looks like something out of a high-design magazine. The loft where the bed is, for example, is decked out with wallpaper. Nearby, there’s an outdoor setup that includes a fire pit with seating and a private hot tub.
Secluded Cabin (Vandalia, Michigan)

Similar to the glamping dome listed above, this is one of the grandest and most gorgeous renovations I’ve ever seen of a silo. There’s a stately staircase that wraps around a central fireplace, along with other bespoke features curved kitchen cabinets. The star of the show is the massive soaking tub in the bathroom, or possibly the hot tub that offers forest views.
Entire Wood-fired Cabin (Gaylord, Michigan)

Spa-lovers, assemble! This remote cabin has a hot tub, a fireplace, and a standalone sauna that makes pampering yourself easy. The interior gives off classic cabin vibes built from high-class furniture and amenities, like a stainless steel espresso machine. The grand coup is the wood-fired exterior baths—I haven’t seen those available at many Airbnbs outside of Scandinavia.
Secluded A-Frame (Prairie Farm, Wisconsin)

If you like the wood-fired cabin listed above but can’t swing a trip to Gaylord, here’s a close match. This secluded A-Frame is decked out in similarly upscale features, which feel both minimalistic and warm. In addition to the standalone exterior sauna, there’s a soaking tub in the main bathroom.
Charming Log Cabin (Backus, Minnesota)

This log cabin, which dates back to the 1700s, has been carefully restored by an award-winning design team. Not everyone will enjoy the white-heavy design, but it adds a lot of brightness that you’ll appreciate during a Valentine’s Day stay in mid-February. There’s also a state-of-the-art sauna on the grounds, plus another one of those wood-fired hot tub-baths.
