The house is right on a bed of black rocks that holds the most amazing view of the pacific ocean. The ability to watch various boats, sea life and sunset/sunrises. The house was perfect for our needs and wants. If there were any concerns or questions Kirsten was very quick to respond. If I come back to the big island, I would love to have the opportunity to stay here again. Thank you Kirsten sharing your home with us.
Perched atop a cliff overlooking the Pacific, Hale Romantik is the perfect spot for glorious sunsets. Kirsten, a gracious host, has thought of everything in this beautiful, well-kept home including a large book of nearby things to do and places to eat. This is the place to stay on the South Kona coast.
The oceanfront Hale Romantik was a terrific Hawaiian destination vacation with our grown daughter (after several years of being away from her due to the pandemic). We’ve been to Hawaii in the past and stayed in rentals near busy beaches and nightlife; this time we were looking for an inspiring seaside destination — Hale Romantik was perfect for us. Morning coffee on the lanai, snorkeling at the isolated Honomalino Beach, and fabulous home-cooked meals enjoyed with wine at sunset on our oceanfront lanai – exactly what we hoped! This vacation home is clean, comfortable, relaxing and with everything you need. Kirsten’s description online and her communications with us before our arrival were spot-on. Upon our arrival in Kona, we loaded up our car with fresh veggies, fruits, water, and wine before the journey south to Miloli’i, and then settled in to enjoy a week at this oceanfront retreat in a quiet neighborhood. Out of the mainstream, out of the ordinary – we loved this Hawaiian experience!
We loved Kirsten’s beautiful home. The views were amazing. So cool to watch dolphins and a shark swim by while enjoying our morning coffee. Kitchen was well outfitted for all of our needs. With the windows open the breeze off of the ocean kept us very comfortable. It was a great launch pad for all of our adventures but we love to drive around new places. We put 1200 miles on our rental in 9 days. The black sand beach just down the road was like snorkeling in an aquarium. We went twice! My only wish is that we could have stayed longer. There are so many things to do on the big island.
The house and property are absolutely perfect to sit and relax watching the ocean and the sky. Very quiet area and everything you really need inside the house as well. The short drives for any little items or food were not any issue at all…..My wife and I totally recommend Kirsten’s property to anyone that wants to chill out and still hop around the island to take advantage of all it has to offer.

Fantastic place to stay! The rooftop patio was perfect for watching sunrises and the local surfers. Quick walk down to the beach and Marie was a wonderful host. Bed was super comfortable and the space was just as advertised. Loved their dogs who welcomed us everyday. If this is available – book it!!
Enjoyed every minute of our stay. Great place to rest between sightseeing on the island!
Cozy house – 5 minute walk to a lovely black sand beach. Host family is friendly and helpful. We had everything we needed. Tranquility in abundance but close to old town Hilo, restaurants and activities.
This bungalow is perfectly set on the property for privacy and proximity to Hilo. The accommodations were lovely and had everything we needed to feel right at home for our 4 nights. The frogs lulled us to sleep every night. They also have a few fur legged welcoming community of kitty’s that are so sweet! There’s so much to do in Hawaii and so many options to stay at, but I’m so glad we chose a beautiful place like this one. It’s in a safe neighborhood with a carport. Marie and Greg made us feel very comfortable and we were able to communicate with them regularly during our stay. They gave great suggestions on places to see and local restaurants options. We will miss Hilo but have wonderful memories! Mahalo!
Beautiful property and great location for exploring Hilo.

Great location and beautiful views. We loved listening to the waves crash on the rocks. Unit has everything you need. The beach gear and washer/dryer were a huge bonus.

We loved that view so much. It was a great stay, plenty of space, very clean, great location with short drives to all the Kona things we wanted to do. Great kitchen supplies and laundry was awesome plus beach items available to use. We used the cooler a ton to take drinks and sandwiches with us for the day. Awesome shower pressure, great internet. So far beautiful view, hosts were kind. I would give more stars if it weren’t for a really bad ant problem. There were ants everywhere, on the ground on the walls, in the bathroom, next to the bed, in the kitchen, on the fridge, on the table, on the chairs, I felt like I could barely enjoy my vacation because of all the ants. It was terrible, too many ants to count. I even got bit on my ankles because of how many ant there were. There was also gecko poop all over the table on the porch outside and on the ground. Beautiful view and stay was alright.
Amazing place to stay! Great view of the ocean, stars, and garden. Loved the indoor/outdoor kitchen and the huge deck. Could see the stars at night. Really enjoyed the leisurely mornings on the deck making breakfast on the grill or outdoor induction burners. Exceeded expectations and would highly recommend!
Ocean View, Ocean Breeze and Relazation!
Very clean and well appointed. The kitchen was very well furnished. Loved cooking on the covered porch! The cook top was amazing! Our hosts went above and beyond to be sure our stay was perfect! Loved the big shower. Not far from Wiamea if you want to go into town to eat. We found some great restaurants. We hope to stay here, again!
With almost an exclusive ocean view this place is amazing. The hosts are very nice and welcoming. It is a pleasure to stay here and I would definitely come here again. Thanks for hosting us.

This property was everything we wanted it to be. The kids could fish and swim in the pool. The owners even brought us a fishing rod to use. THANK YOU!! The bean bag boards were awesome! We saw turtles and sharks. Melanie and Craig went above and beyond for us. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
5 women could not have found a more beautiful and accommodating home to relax, restore and explore from. From early morning swims in the private pool to late evening soaks in the hot tub we were at ease and comfortable at all times.Thank you , hopefully we will be back to watch the sun set over the ocean and give a toast to this beautiful Hawaiian island
We had a very relaxing stay at Melanie and Craig’s home on the cove! The house is stocked with everything guests could want or need. We appreciated this very much — plenty of bath towels and pool towels, a basket full of sunscreen and bug spray, a fully-stocked kitchen, etc. … It just seemed like there was extra of everything, and this is not always the case at rental properties. The house has a great layout with many ways to take in the incredible view of the cove and ocean. We enjoyed the upper deck, the patio/pool/hot tub, and especially loved the cove itself. Sitting at the cove, reading and watching the waves crash was our favorite part. The ocean view at this property is hard to beat! Melanie was a very welcoming host as well!
A beautiful custom home built with Ohia wood pillars and graced with very nice landscaping. They even have grass, a variety that the clever owner found that thrives on salt water! The pool is also saltwater refreshed by the ocean – no chlorine smell! Bedrooms were large and comfortable, two with private baths and the 3rd with a bath right beside. It is VERY well equipped in every area – lots of beach/pool towels, pool toys, games, a delicious hot tub, outdoor seating. Kitchen is complete – every pan, dish, storage, plasticware, cutlery, etc you might need. View is spectacular and you can snorkel right there if you are careful with the broken lava approach. Like everywhere, mosquitoes are a presence – come prepared. It is very south of Kona and yes, the road down is curvy but once you are there you won’t want to leave. If you’re looking for nightlife and restaurants this is not the place. If you are looking for peace and quiet and just want to luxuriate in comfortable surroundings The Cove cannot be beat. Really hope to return.Ironically the 4 stars for Check In Process is because VRBO failed to give us the complete address.
The Cove at Milolii was a great place to spend the first half of our trip to the Hawaiian Islands. Communication throughout the reservation process, check-in, and check-out was seamless. Melanie and Craig were always quick to answer any questions we had and even offered suggestions for things to do in the area and Craig gave us some history of the house and volcanoes on the island (very nice people). We were a group of 6 (3 adults, 2 teens, and 11 year old). The house offered plenty of space for all and the many seating options was a plus. Beds and bathrooms were nice and the kitchen was well stocked. The outdoor area by far was everybody’s favorite. Each evening we would gather on the 2nd floor balcony for games and to watch the amazing sunset. After sunset or back from island exploring, we would finish the evenings in the pool or hot tub which was very refreshing. This was a great place with amazing views and lots of amenities. Would stay again and recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing place away from the crowds where you can enjoy the sound of the ocean and cool sea breeze.

We have stayed in several VRBO homes, this is BY FAR the best one ever! Beautiful, well appointed house. Everything was even better than the photos and descriptions. Amazing sunsets, great hiking along the ocean. This location is great for excursions to Kona or Volcanoes Park (about 1/2 way between them. Gregg was a great host and takes obvious pride in this beautiful property. We will definitely be back. Mahalo Gregg!Ron and Mary
The beautiful home and view was more than we anticipated. The owner, Greg was a good host
This home is beautiful, comfortable, very clean….and right across the street from the beach! The views from the lanai are stunning and the neighborhood is peaceful. The beach is a rocky, but on calm days (it was calm all 5 days we stayed there) the snorkeling is good to the right. The home is well-appointed, with the hosts’ care and attention to detail evident throughout. We would love to stay here again. Thank you Gregg and Laurel!
very clean and well organized home we loved our stay here and would definitely recommend for any family
The house is even better in person. If you love to relax and read outside this place is for you. Great snorkeling at the beach that takes less than a minute to reach. What I really appreciated was how well the house was stocked. Little things like ziplock baggies, chip-clips, herbs, etc. It’s very obvious that Gregg wants his guests to have a nice stay. This may be the best VRBO house I have ever rented. And I have done ALOT!

Beautiful Condo, well equipped, in great location. Paying an extra day fee for use of Mauna Kea Hotel facilities is well worth it.
Excellent house, excellent host, excellent property manager! We thoroughly enjoyed all the beach/water toys, the spacious lanai, lovely pool and outdoor shower, and the ability to open the house entirely to the outdoors. The well-stocked kitchen and bathrooms were greatly appreciated. The host and manager were so helpful and responsive. Couldn’t ask for more!
    Outstanding.
Very well furnished and provisioned property. Top shelf kitchen. Roomy, in suite bathrooms. Maybe better suited for 6 adults, plus a child or two versus the advertised 9 or 10.No issues. One of the best VRBO properties we’ve stayed in.

Super cool house. Great location. Awesome view. Great owner. Relaxing home on the ocean. Has everything you need.
Truly an amazing home with an even better view. Excellent outside seating overlooking the water. Fantastic location close to Hilo. Would highly recommend a stay here
We absolutely loved this rental. From the moment we stepped in the front door, we were in awe. A lovely breeze blowing off the ocean to welcome us was just the start. Views for days off the lanai. We wished we had more time to spend in the house, because we could have spent a week just relaxing there, if not checking out the island! Accommodations were five-star, beds were topnotch in comfort. We enjoyed the gourmet kitchen, and the decor throughout the house was beautiful. Perfect fit for our family of 6 – mom, dad, 3 teens, and grandma. Plus, location in a cute, quiet neighborhood, just a 10-20 minute drive from the local attractions including waterfalls, scenic drives, and shopping. Also conveniently located to Volcanoes Natl Park, just 45 mins away. Communication with owner was perfect. No issues whatsoever. You will be thrilled with your choice if you stay here!
What a great house and location. Overlooking the Hilo Bay, the scene changed every day. We saw pods of dolphins and the occasional cruise ship. If you like having your morning coffee, hearing the crashing waves, and relaxing by the water, this place is for you. Downtown Hilo is close and a trip to the Volcano National Park is only 45 minutes.
Very nice house in a good neighborhood. Easy access to town and a beach! It was everything our group of six needed to have a comfortable stay in Hilo!

This home does not disappoint! It’s well appointed, has amazing views, comfortable furniture/beds, the list goes on.My mother and I stayed 8 nights (8/24-9/1) on a trip for her 70th birthday. She could not have been more pleased with the location! The views from the upstairs master bedroom were stunning and had an en-suite bathroom. Downstairs were two good sized bedrooms with a jack and Jill bathroom, so there is plenty of space. The kitchen has everything you need and we took full advantage of it and the grill off the small patio. The pool was great and the pictures online do not do justice to the beautiful landscaping on this property! So gorgeous! Our favorite place was the large patio overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Mom and I sat there for hours chatting and listening to the waves. Dolphins even came to visit the day we were leaving. Great ending to a perfect trip. Terry was a great host and very responsive prior to and during our stay. One thing to note – this property is tucked back in Hawaiian Paradise Park and my cell service was a bit spotty once I got close to the property so make sure you have entry instructions opened/printed. I actually had to back track a bit for cell service so I could open the VRBO app for entry details. Totally my fault but just something to note. :)Highly recommend this property if your going to the big island and want to stay on the eastern side to get a more authentic, local feel vs the more tourist vibe on the western side of the island.
I am putting in a list of the things we observed at the house. As a business owner I appreciate when people give me feedback to correct, I hope you feel the same.1. It was mentioned to me before renting that this was over a “million dollar home” and for that reason you screen renters. I found that offensive, since you do not know my income or the home I live in and it’s value. There are other ways to relay your concerns about renters such as you value the home and it’s location.. 2. Bedrooms downstairs -Only 1 luggage rack in Queen bedroom & should be 2 according to list.- No blankets in closet according to list-Only 1 King pillow in closet, should be more.3. Pool Waterfalls didn’t work 4. Ventilation above stove not functioning -No power, so when we cooked, it all came into the kitchen.5. Toilet adjacent to kitchen runs (needs new flapper) we had to leave off tank lid so we could manually make it fill.6. Master bath faucets drip slightly, especially if not ‘on center’7. Front balcony blind ( facing pool) cord was not attached to bracket, so it’s a hazard and hanging down, especially for children ( we had none)8. Washer was closed on arrival despite the message taped to the unit and smelled musty, Ran a cleaning cycle, helped a bit.9. Cushions in Rubbermaid container on upper deck were damp, and couldn’t use them. We brought them inside for 2 days to dry, ( didn’t dry while outside for a day)still slightly musty. We put them back in Rubbermaid container before leaving.11. There were 4 adults staying per contract, up to 5 people can stay at this VRBO yet we were charged an extra $400.00 for extra guest. (No mention of this in Contract that I could see) I had already paid and realized this after the fact. Master bedroom door has a pocket door opening and doesn’t provide a noise buffer to those gathering in kitchen & living room in the morning. Might wake you up.I liked having beach towels avail to use.I didn’t like having to hand- wash the acrylic dishes, would have rather used the dishwasher. (I think these might be meant for outside pool use)When I requested permission for my Nephew ( whom I mentioned I haven’t seen since Dec. )to stay for dinner, it felt like my privacy was being invaded, or I was a kid asking Mom a question , when the reply would come back. “ Is it just him coming, or will there be others with him?”And the response “ As long as it’s just him, that’s fine :). Thank you,Lisa Q
We had such a wonderful time at this beautiful property. It was so relaxing to come back to this house after a big day of exploring the island. The view and sunsets were spectacular. We would love to return some day.
Beautiful property, amazing views, clean with comfortable beds. Property manager gave great suggestions and was very attentive. So glad we splurged on staying here.
We loved the house for relaxing and short trip to volcano and Hilo. The House is exactly like the pictures. Love to come back soon.

quiet , comfortable nice view but too many mosquitoes
Only here 2 days, but fit a whole bunch in visited several beaches with white sand black sand and much lava. Went snorkeling with Captain Zodiac. Watched the sun set from the lanai and relaxed. Great location for us.
The property is overall beautiful and well taken care of. Very clean however parts of the property can be limiting. The water catchment system limits water use which was a large concern especially with a family of 4. Visiting in the summer and a lack of air conditioning was uncomfortable as the temperature was warm and humid. If a different time of year and maybe just adults staying at the home would been a great property.
We loved our stay in this little neighborhood just above pebbles beach. The house was spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed to cook meals. For those who want a restful vacation away from all the tourists, this is the place for you. Great communication with host. Recommended!
Wonderful home with everything you need. Pebbles Beach is steps away, perfect for morning swim. Enjoyed our time, we were able to visit a number of areas from this location – Volcano National Park, Mauna Kea visitor center, and the beautiful bays near by/
