According to a deep dive from a dating app called Agilis, local searches for things like proposal spots, couples’ activities, and date night ideas indicate a city has high love appeal. They might not be as scenic and culturally sensual as a visit to Italy, but they’re a close second. (Or third. I’ve heard France is romantic, too.)
More specifically, Agilis founder Jehan Rajendra looked into the total volume of local searches for romantic activities. That includes date night ideas, couples activities, romantic getaways, romantic dinners, romantic walks, romantic hotels, wedding venues, love festivals, and a whopping twenty other metrics to analyze which cities get the most attention from lovebirds.
In other words, this is a very deep statistical dive into the types of romantic opportunities that couples love when traveling for anniversaries, honeymoons, and more. Here’s where to go when you’re in the mood for love.
A closer look at US cities that nail romance, based on a recent Agilis study
This study weighed the metrics listed above to figure out, in terms of pure search volume, which cities had the most searches relative to their population. The higher the volume, the more romantic opportunities available to lovers.

- Nashville, Tennessee
- Austin, Texas
- Chicago, Illinois
- Jacksonville, Florida
- Denver, Colorado
- Charlotte, North Carolina
- San Antonio, Texas
- Fort Worth, Texas
- Columbus, Ohio
- Seattle, Washington
- El Paso, Texas
- San Jose, California
- Houston, Texas
- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
According to Rejendra, “New York taking the top spot makes sense when you consider the sheer variety of experiences available to couples. From Central Park walks and rooftop dinners to Broadway shows and countless restaurants, there are plenty of ways to plan a memorable date.”
Nashville, meanwhile, came out in second thanks to its number of date night ideas. From live music to its food scene, there’s plenty to do for adventurous couples. In third comes Austin, which blends entertainment with outdoor experiences.
It’s not the only Texan city to take the top 15. In fact, the Lone Star State takes five positions out of 15 when it comes to romance across major cities. (Does it have something to do with everything being bigger in Texas?)
