Silversea Cruises has begun pre-sales for an around-the-world cruise taking place in 2025. It’s a marathon vacation covering 136 days and 59 destinations in 30 countries and four continents.
Set to launch in January 2025, the cruise will travel around the northern hemisphere, starting in Tokyo and ending in late May in New York.
The cruise is being billed as a Controtempo World Cruise.
“Controtempo, a musical term that means off-tempo, will take guests closer to the authentic heartbeat of iconic and off-the-beaten-path destinations,” Silversea CEO Roberto Martinoli stated. “We will be traveling to an unusual rhythm, from East to West, with more time ashore in unconventional seasons.”
Guests will travel on board the new Silver Dawn, an ultra-luxury ship that holds close to 600 passengers. It will mark the first time a Muse-class ship has hosted a worldwide cruise.
“Feeding the incredibly high demand for extended voyages, our destination experts have designed our new Controtempo World Cruise 2025 to sail offbeat, enabling the world’s most experienced travelers to rediscover the world in a whole new light,” Martinoli said.
The cruise includes 33 overnight calls, seven exclusive events, three optional overland programs, and 19 maiden calls. The adventure will be divided into 10 different segments.
Tokyo To Hong Kong (January 13th-27th)
This portion includes overnight calls in Osaka, Xiamen, and Hong Kong. There will also be maiden calls in Kagoshima, Naha, and Beppu to give travelers a glimpse at the often hidden parts of Japan. An optional experience in Kannawa will allow guests to experience the region’s hot springs.
Hong Kong To Singapore (January 27th-February 7th)
Stops in Vietnam and other parts of Southeast Asia will give visitors a taste of the region. Overnight calls will take place in Halong Bay, the imperial city of Hue, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City. Cruisers will have the chance to visit more than 70 temples in the area.
Singapore To Mumbai (February 7th-24th)
Overnight calls in Singapore, Phuket, Chennai, Trincomalee, and Mumbai will take place, along with an optional three-day journey inland to visit rural Malaysia and Kanchanaburi. The segment ends with an exclusive Bollywood production for guests on the ship.
Mumbai To Istanbul (February 24th-March 16th)
The fourth segment will take tourists to the Holy Land, including Jerusalem and Egypt. In Saudi Arabia, travelers will discover the Souq Al Alawi, the Al-Tayebat Museum, the Corniche, and Jeddah Tower. After a call in Aqaba to witness the archaeological site of Petra, visitors will experience Egypt’s ancient history before landing in Cairo.
Istanbul To Naples (March 16th-25th)
Maiden calls in Thessaloniki and Volos are part of the fifth segment, as well as overnight calls in the cities of Istanbul and Sicily. In Istanbul, guests will relax in Turkish baths. The trip will hit other hidden gems in the eastern Mediterranean, including Rhodes.
Naples To Lisbon (March 25th-April 3rd)
Stops in Naples and Malaga highlight this segment, as well as exploring the city that brought Picasso to the world. Cultural gems, cathedrals, and Roman theaters are among the highlights of the segment before landing in Portugal.
Lisbon To Southampton (April 3rd-12th)
This segment includes stops in Portugal, Spain, France, and the United Kingdom. Three overnight calls in Bordeaux will give tourists a chance to explore France’s wine region and culture.
Southampton To Stockholm (April 12th-30th)
There are numerous sites to explore during this lengthy segment, from Rouen to Hamburg to Copenhagen to Helsinki. Guests then spend time in Paris and Amsterdam, giving them a great glimpse of western Europe.
Stockholm To Reykjavík (April 30th-May 13th)
Stockholm, Oslo, and Reykjavík are among the highlights of this segment, as Scandanavia’s most vibrant cities are included on the journey.
Reykjavík To New York (May13th-29th)
The final leg of the journey includes stops in Greenland, portions of Canada, Prince Edward Island, Boston, and ultimately New York. Visitors will enjoy the differences between Newfoundland and New England.
