But can you guess which items are most frequently pilfered from hotels around the world? One study from Deluxe Holiday Homes, a rental agency that specializes in Dubai villas, interviewed over 1,200 hotel staff to gain insights into which products end up missing most often.
Hotel staff were asked to select items that they had seen being taken from a room with their own eyes, along with items they’ve heard about being stolen. Hotel owners were also surveyed in the study.

According to the report that surveyed over 1,200 hotel staff and owners, these are the items they most often report as stolen. The percentage shows the number of survey respondents who have seen or heard about the item being stolen—the higher the percentage, the more often the item turns up missing.
- Towels: 87.97%
- Bathrobes: 65.70%
- Hangers: 55.29%
- Toiletries (soap, tissues, etc): 53.03%
- Blankets: 36.16%
- Pillows: 31.64%
- Hair dryers: 26.72%
- Pens: 21.55%
- Dishes: 13.64%
