In case you missed out, the TSA launched an interesting new project last year: the option to book a time slot to go through security at select US airports.

At the time of writing, the only way to schedule a time to go through security is via the Clear Reserve Program. Clear is a biometrics-based company that offers security services—it’s not part of the TSA but a private company. Passengers who enroll in Clear have access to shorter security waits because their identities are verified by machines instead of TSA workers.
They also have the option to book a trip through security lines at 20 airports in the United States and Europe, as of December 2025.
It’s a fantastic idea that’s designed to optimize security screenings and minimize waits—and it’s starting to take off, even for fliers who aren’t part of Clear or TSA PreCheck.
For the last two months, London Heathrow Airport has been trying out a similar program that’s aimed at all passengers. Here’s what you need to know.
How to schedule a time slot to go through security at London Heathrow Airport
London Heathrow is currently two months into a six-month trial period to test out pre-bookings for security time slots, called Heathrow Timeslots.
For now, the program is only available for passengers flying out of Terminal 3. Terminal 3 houses airlines like American, Delta, Emirates, and Virgin, amongst others. You can schedule a visit through security directly on the airport’s website on its Fast Track page.
When you book, you have the option to choose your time slot, but you can only schedule a visit within three days of your flight. You will also be given a specific line to join in the security line.
At the end of the six-month trial period, which ends on April 3, 2025, the airport will decide whether to expand the program, keep it implemented in Terminal 3, or cancel the initiative.
