8 Enticing Temecula Rental Houses In California’s Wine Country

    William Stupp
    Updated: April 05, 2023

In vino veritas and, in truth, wine is an almost magical beverage. Of that, it’s doubtless you need no convincing. Less known, however, is the power of wine to create unforgettable vacation experiences. The best of these involve not only drinking the libation but exploring its origins.

Temecula is the jewel of southern California’s wine country. A hilly land between San Diego and Los Angeles, it is an excellent destination for any kind of trip. The area has over 50 active vineyards but wine is by no means the only attraction. The landscape itself is simply stunning. On top of that, the area boasts over a dozen golf courses and is also a center for equestrian activities and hot air balloon recreation. The Old Town is full of fine restaurants and shops serving the region’s upscale visitors. The Pechanga Casino is another attraction. It is host to a constant stream of events and concerts as well as gambling tables of every kind. There are even a few breweries challenging the established vineyards at their game and some of the state’s nicest beaches are just an hour away.

Fittingly for such a desirable location, Temecula is home to many fine rental properties in the form of opulent villas and rustic cottages on the grounds of vineyards. To ease your decision-making process, here is a list of eight Vrbo rental houses in Temecula.

    Rancho Del Vino Estate$278/night avg

At Rancho Del Vino Estate, you will be transported to a wine-lover’s paradise. The tan hues of the exterior are complimented by the unique interior decor. Sleeping six people, it features three bedrooms, three bathrooms, Wi-Fi, and add-on services such as a private chef, housekeeping, and a chauffeur.

Rancho Del Vino is in the perfect location to explore nearby vineyards. With Wiens Cellars, Ponte Winery, and Danza Del Sol Winery all within 3 miles, you might even want to take a beautiful California stroll to and from your tastings.

We loved our stay in your vineyard home! We had everything we needed, and it was very comfortable. The rooms are all large, and it is wonderful having king beds in all 3 rooms. We would absolutely stay here again!
Enjoyed both the inside and outside of this well managed property.
Excellent property. The best VRBO we’ve ever rented. All accomodations were superb. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to our friends.
This was a beautiful property just as advertised. The setting is beautiful. We would definitely stay here again!
Stayed for several days with a small group ranging in age from 6 months-94 years old. The house was beautiful, airy, immaculately maintained and furnished, and in a setting that felt more like Tuscany than the United States. Looking forward to a return visit!

    Villa Cabernet$1,770/night avg

Relax and appreciate the good things in life (wine, obviously, but also so much more) at this grand French-style villa in Temecula. It is the perfect place to enjoy the (fermented) fruits of the land. The outdoor area is suitably luxurious. It has a large pool (complete with a waterfall and slide), hot tub, day beds, and an abundance of lounge chairs. The interior is equally grand, from the imposing swirling wrought-iron staircase to the spacious bed and bathrooms. Despite the large size of the villa, no space has been overlooked. Each bedroom and all of the many common areas and workspaces are furnished and decorated with fittingly rich trappings.

We held our team retreat at the house and it was perfect! We had 28 people and there was plenty of room for us all! The outdoor living space, pool, hot tub and slide all got a lot of use! Had an intense game of volleyball and corn hole too! House was clean, comfortable beds/pillows and was everything we needed for a perfect couple days together! Would 100% recommend this property and would love to come back! Thank You!
The property was awesome, our kids loved staying there. Large kitchen, plenty of comfortable living area, lots of amenities inside and outside, easy communication with property management. The only minor issue was cleanliness of my bedsheet in particular, there were a handful of curly hairs on the sheet. No one else in our party of 20+ mentioned any issues with cleanliness.
My family and I (22 of us total) had a great time. The house was beautiful. The pool kept us cool in the crazy heat, and there were plenty of available games and distractions during the evening hours. The beds were amazing! Extra firm memory foam that adapts to your shape. I was going to look for the brand on the side of the mattress but in the end completely forgot! All of the adults in the house with chronic back issues fell in love with the beds! Overall a great couple of days! Highly recommend!
We were an extended family on a short getaway. This property exceeded our expectations. My grandchildren all want to schedule another trip.Place was beautiful!!! Staff was attentive and helpful!!! Definitely a 5 *****
    Amazing Property!

    French Country Home$399/night avg

Given the country’s strong associations with wine culture and cultivation, it’s no surprise that many California vintners have adopted elements of the French style in their wine country homes. This country house is a fine example of the trend. The interior is dominated by immaculate swathes of white, from the furnishings to the walls. The property has inviting outdoor spaces with verandas, games, a hot tub, a classic Bel Air street lamp, and views of the nearby vineyards (which, along with hiking trails, can be reached in 5 minutes on foot). The land also abuts an orange orchard.

Very clean and comfortable home. It is the second time I have stayed here. Very close to all wineries. Thank you!
We stayed in Temecula for a wedding. The property was spacious, clean, convenient to the winery and met all our needs.
The host sent the guest responsibilities “contract” through the app the night before our arrival. Make sure you read this. In the contract the host notes that you may have an “occasional bug” in the house. As we were getting in to bed the first night of our stay, we discovered a scorpion, several spiders and a cockroach all in the master bedroom. We alerted the host right away and let her know that we would be sleeping in a hotel for the rest of the trip as we felt uncomfortable sleeping in the house. The host was unapologetic about the issue and denied our refund request, even after we sent pictures. She stated that in the “contract” we agree that we coexist with nature. The house was cute, but unless you are comfortable with sleeping with multiple insects in your bedroom, I would not recommend this house.
This property definitely had the French country ambience. The home was lovely with great attention to detail. The location is ideal. It is quiet and serene yet close to the wineries and a short trip to downtown. Hermin was an attentive host and communication was easy. Definitely would recommend to anyone visiting the area.
From the beginning once I made reservation and even until after I left the communication was flawless. Hermin has one beautiful property, and it’s in the quiet valley with stunning views!!!She so creative and has a great vision which my wife appreciated, as well as the amazing comfort of everything inside and out….cannot wait to go back.

Great place. Would definitely stay here again
This is our 2nd time staying at this amazing residence in Temecula. This beautiful home speaks for itself, perched on top of a hill overlooking Temecula Valley and the surrounding grape vineyards. The added bonus is having such pleasant hosts as Michael and his wife, Claire are. We stayed for 5 days this time around. We look forward to returning for future getaways here. It’s so peaceful enjoying a cocktail in the pool/jacuzzi in the evening overlooking the city lights. Will return again
We loved the view from the back patio as the large infinity pool flowed over edge of the hillside cliff overlooking vineyards and the mountains. Michael was very responsive to our requests. Beautiful property. Spacious master bedroom with two sinks, huge walk-in shower, whirlpool tub, and walk in closet. Beautiful and spacious back patio with lots of furniture, outside grill area, and shade from sun
We loved the house but there were a few issues we had. The listing showed 5 bedrooms and we had five but one had a king sofa sleeper but showed as bed on site and one had Queen Bunk beds and so for a couple this was not ideal. Also the powder bath was not available so also one half bath short which with a group of 5 couples was a consideration. The master bedroom was a bit warm to sleep at night. Other than theat the manager was great and when asked to turn on hot tub did every time. The location was great and the view is beautiful!
Absolutely loved our stay, house was great the pool and view were absolutely amazing! We loved every second and can’t wait to do it again.

My sister, mom and I always have such a great time staying at the cottage. The beds and bedding are so comfortable, the location is gorgeous and we love to wake up early to watch the hot air balloons from the yard. Jennifer is a fabulous host who always goes above and beyond to be accommodating for her guests.
We went to Temecula for our 13th anniversary, and the cottage was proof that 13 isn’t an unlucky number. The cottage was clean, it had every amenity we could possibly ask for, and it was close to everything. We will definitely be back!!
We were a group of ladies celebrating 3 birthdays..this cottage was perfect. Extremely well stocked with all necessities. Sitting right outside and watching the air balloons take off was a great time…the 3 bedrooms were very large and roomy and the 2 full bathrooms took care of all our needs. Jennifer was great to work with and a wealth of information of the area..I would definitely recommend this cottage for a weekend or even a weeks stay.
This is a lovely property, very comfortable and inviting. Although we were in town for a wedding, and we didn’t take advantage of other local attractions, we really enjoyed the cottage and watching the hot air balloons in the morning.
When looking for a place to stay, the pictures had me. I thought I probably was romanticizing it a little……nope!!!It was BETTER than my imagination. The property is beautiful inside and out. Step out the front door and the view of vineyards is breathtaking. Cute wild bunnies hopping around, we saw a coyote trotting by. On the weekend the hot air balloons floating by as we sat on the porch drinking our morning coffee was pure entertainment. The host did many extras to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. We went to Temecula for the wineries (which were wonderful) but next time I want more time to hang out on the property!100% recommend!!!! Can’t wait to come back!

Stylish Barn On A Vineyard$292/night avg

Wine lovers always know where to go to get their next bottle, whether it’s their own cellar or the local distributor. Guests staying at this swank new barn-like structure need simply exit their front door to find grapes growing on the surrounding hills. Trees bearing other fruit not destined to be turned into wine are even closer at hand. The space is essentially a studio, complete with a king-size bed, sparkling bathroom with a freestanding tub, and stocked kitchenette. There is also an outdoor space with a fire pit and grill. Four other similar structures sit on the 4-acre property. The local grape is Tempranillo, but many others are to be found in the area’s other vineyards (which amount to over 50), all reachable after a few minutes of driving.

Tally was a fantastic host. Attentive and welcoming. The modern barn was beautiful and comfortable with everything you need.
This darling Modern Barn Cottage was perfectly perfect in EVERY. SINGLE. WAY. My husband and I love to travel and always stay in VRBO’s. We loved this place so much, we posted about our marvelous time here and encouraged all of our friends to have a get-away here, too, as it is only an hour away from where we live. This is our all time favorite VRBO!! Tucked in the heart of the Temecula Wine Country, this brand new, Pinterest-perfect, modern barn cottage has every possible feature and amenity you could dream of. The host, Talley, is a lovely, energetic and extremely talented woman with a flair for making her guests feel pampered in her tastefully decorated and exceptionally well stocked beautiful VRBO. From the beautiful vineyards and driveway lined with olive trees ushering us toward the cottage, to the most luxurious king bed with high-end linens, a giant and amenity-filled spa bathroom, to the thoughtful snack basket, expensive tea and Kerig selections and fridge stocked with chilled water, Oat Mik and Coffee Creamer in the kitchenette, this wine country get-away has it all! We enjoyed our morning coffee in the comfy outdoor seating by the fire pit with views of the surrounding hillsides. I savored getting ready for our wine country adventures with a nice shower in the spa bathroom and plotted ending my day with a nice soak in the tub that had a variety of offerings such as Bubble Bath, Soaking Salts and Bathing Milk. Sleeping in the luxurious linens on the beautiful pillow top King bed was restful and quiet. We kept the patio door open and the ceiling fan on to enjoy the cool evening, and didn’t need to turn on the A/C (which would certainly be welcome later this summer in the Temecula heat!). The property around the Modern Barn Cottage had a few other VRBO options, such as a Honeymoon Suite a few steps up a hillside, and a larger Modern Barn house perfect for families in the front of the property, but the spacing between rental options was far enough away that the cottage felt very private, and windows were positioned so no one peered right into the cottage. We felt comfortable sleeping with the window treatments open. Parking is close to the entry. The cottage and grounds were spotless! Garden and porch lighting. This is not only an outstanding weekend get-away, but it would also be a perfect longer-term stay, as it has a washer & dryer in a closet, and the kitchenette is stocked with designer cooking and dining options!
Property is amazing the “barn” is beautifully decorated with everything you would possibly need. The hosts are great and very accommodating. Had the best weekend here I highly recommend staying here!!

    Cottage At Namaste Farm$450/night avg

Wine isn’t the only industry in Temecula. The agricultural scene is much more diverse than that, consisting of fruit growers and ranchers. One example of the latter is Namaste Farm, an active farm with a cottage available for rent. The farm is filled with sheep, peacocks, horses, and chickens and was featured in Nat Geo Wild’s TV show Shear Madness. Guests are free to explore the grounds and observe the timeless practice of animal husbandry. You can even bring your own horses and enjoy the area’s many equestrian trails (well-behaved dogs are also welcome). The cottage is a cozy studio with antiques and eccentric decorations. There is one bed in a lofted area with lush oriental decorations and a murphy bed for extra guests.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Bella Vista Villa Getaway. Excellent location – close to what we wanted and just far away from traffic to give us a rural feeling. Loved the hot tub…wished the BBQs were working. Other than the BBQs needing replacement this place was a good find.
I had been planning my husband’s 70th Birthday party for many months. After researching numerous locations, needing something not too big and with an open yard, I chose Bella Vista. It was perfect for a small gathering of 7 and the back yard area with fire pit was ideal for sitting around and enjoying each others company. The location was far enough away to enjoy the quiet and close enough to have Uber/Lyft arranged without breaking the bank or getting lost. Barron’s market is super close and really all other shopping centers are within a 15 minute drive. Chris was super friendly and was quick to respond to messages. It’s a beautiful home and ideal for 4-6 people and not be on top of each other. I would definitely love to visit again when the weather is cooler to take advantage of the hot tub.
Location & surroundings could not have been any better for our needs. Would be interested in this property again ifSofas & beds were replaced & Outdoor kitchen repaired. Needs a little TLC.
We had 3 adult siblings and spouses stay for a wedding we were attending! It was the perfect layout for us to stay and visit with each other!
Very nice house. Only suggestion is that couch in main tv area needs to be replaced. Not very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again!

    Del Vino Country Cottage$361/night avg

Take in the joys of wine country from this delightful cottage. The building is located on a 3-acre vineyard, meaning grapes flourish not only on the surrounding hills but in the front yard as well. Syrah is grown on the property, but every conceivable varietal and vintage is available from the area’s many growers and sellers. The home has three comfortable king beds, a nice outdoor area with a hot tub, and a full kitchen. Humbler than many of Temecula’s grander villas, this cottage is nevertheless an excellent way for a couple or small group to experience life among the vines.

Amidst the countryside vineyards, we had a beautiful stay in a cottage that had all the perks. From the hammock to the jacuzzi, from the fire pit stories during sunset, we truly enjoyed our weekend getaway! Extremely clean, stocked with coffee, shampoo, and toothpaste – we had all we needed. Thank you Eric and Ned’s for checking on us and making our stay unforgettable. We will definitely be going back!
