Labor Day may be the unofficial end of summer, but it’s also a great time to plan a trip for later this year or early next year — especially when you save money booking airfare.
That’s exactly what you can do during PLAY’s Labor Day weekend sale. From August 30 through September 4, the Icelandic airline will offer flights to Iceland for $129 and flights to select European destinations for just $159.
Importantly, the low-cost airline’s sale is only valid for flights booked from October 2023 through March 2024.
“Booking a trip during the hustle and bustle of summer can be overwhelming, but booking a getaway during ‘shoulder season’ is the perfect excursion to look forward to during the slower, cooler months!” Birgir Jónsson, PLAY’s CEO, told TravelAwaits in an exclusive interview. “With PLAY’s Labor Day deal and already low fares, travelers can save on airfare for the fall or winter trip of their dreams.”
How The Sale Works
Here’s what you need to know about PLAY’s Labor Day celebration:
During the sale, travelers from the U.S. can book flights from Baltimore/Washington’s International Thurgood Marshall Airport, Boston’s Logan International Airport, New York’s Stewart International Airport, and Washington’s Dulles International Airport.
The flash sale’s pricing only applies to flights bound for Iceland, Copenhagen, London, Dublin, Amsterdam, and Glasgow.
Flights from the U.S. to Iceland will be $129. On the other hand, flights to other destinations will be just $159.
While the deal is valid for flights booked from October 2023 through March 2024, it’s important to remember that you’ll need to act quickly. PLAY’s sale only runs from August 30 through midnight Eastern time on September 4, 2023.
Once the sale begins, all you’ll need to do is book the airfare at Fly PLAY.
What Is PLAY?
If you aren’t familiar with the airline, PLAY, which enables passengers to “pay less, play more,” was founded in Reykjavík, Iceland, in 2019. It then began service across Europe in June 2021, operating seven routes to five countries — including service to Paris, London, Berlin, Copenhagen, and Barcelona.
PLAY’s first U.S. flight, on April 20, 2022, departed from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport bound for Iceland. The airline then expanded U.S. operations by also offering service from Boston, followed by New York, then Dulles International Airport, near Washington, D.C.
Today, PLAY also serves more than 30 destinations across Iceland and Europe.
In a testament to its growing popularity, PLAY recently announced that 160,979 passengers flew on its flights in June, which was a new record for PLAY. Then, in July, 191,577 passengers flew on the airline’s flights — setting another company record.
Know So You Can Book
As you would expect, PLAY’s Labor Day sale doesn’t apply to flights booked for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
And, of course, sale prices are inclusive of all mandatory taxes, fees, and carrier charges. Secondly, restrictions and baggage fees apply.
