The Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, and the Pantheon are all incredible reasons to visit Italy’s capital city. Now might be the best time to book that trip. From December through May, you can book flights from the East Coast for less than $400.
Flights are available from Miami and New York City on TAP Air Portugal, Delta, ITA Airways, and Iberia. You can book now from December through May.
Flights
We checked round-trip tickets departing March 1 and returning March 8, but again, the window is pretty broad for this deal. Most flights are non-stop, but some do include one layover. Here’s what we found as an example:
From Miami, the most affordable flight is $375. But if you want to get there faster, you will pay $552. It’ll save you about 3 hours in travel time.
From New York City, you’ll pay the best price at $357. But again, you can save 3 hours and spend $492.
Airline Fees
As is the case most of the time when we fly these days, airlines include additional fees. The prices here include an estimate of taxes and charges, but keep in mind that airlines will have fees for your bags or flight insurance. Be sure to check airline fees before you fly.
About Rome
Visiting between December and May could be the perfect time to see Rome. Tourist season has ended, so the crowds and the rates are lower. You will, however, need a coat. Temperatures during this time could be in the 40s and 50s with lows in the 30s and 40s (Fahrenheit).
Besides some of the most popular tourist destinations — like those mentioned above — there are also lesser-known, but popular attractions to enjoy in Rome. You can check out the Piazza Navona Christmas Market from November to January, the Christmas Blessing of the Pope in December, the Rome Marathon in April, and Holy Week and Easter in April.
