If you’ve been putting off taking that trip to Hawaii, now may be the time to book your flight. From January through February, you can book a flight from the West Coast to Hawaii for under $250.
Flights are available from Los Angeles, San Diego, and Portland on Hawaiian, Delta, and American Airlines with arrival in Honolulu. You can book now from January through February.
Flights
We checked round-trip tickets departing February 1 and returning on February 8. Most flights are non-stop, but some do include one layover. Here’s what we found as an example:
From Los Angeles, flights start at $237 and increase to the quickest option for $321, which really only saves you 10 minutes, so you may want to save the money instead of the time.
From Portland, the cheapest flight is $275 but will take you 18 hours. The quickest trip will take you to Hawaii in 5 hours and 40 minutes but will cost you $377.
From San Diego, the cheapest you’ll pay is $252 but you’ll save 8 minutes if you want to pay $257.
Airline Fees
As is the case most times when we fly these days, airlines include additional fees. The prices here include an estimate of taxes and charges, but keep in mind that airlines will have fees for your bags or flight insurance. Check airline fees before you fly.
About Hawaii
While you may see a bit more rain than normal, February actually may be the perfect time for your trip to the Big Island. The high temperatures most days reach 76 degrees Fahrenheit with lows at 72 degrees.
It’s also a slower tourist season so you’ll find reasonable rates on stays. Peak season for whale watching is January through March, so it’s also a great time to book a tour. If you’re looking to explore other areas of the state, get around the islands in a helicopter, ferry, or boat. But in most cases, you’ll have to book another flight.
