The leading global network specializing in luxury and experiential travel, Virtuoso, named the best of the best in travel at its 34th annual Virtuoso Travel Week.
Its 20,000 professional travel advisors from 50 countries voted on the winners. One of the most highly anticipated awards given during the ceremony, best hotel of the year, went to Gleneagles in Scotland.
The award recognizes an iconic hotel that epitomizes excellence in luxury hospitality and acts as a beacon for positive change in its community, particularly in developing markets.
Virtuoso described the hotel in a release, “For nearly a century, this historic resort has served as one of Scotland’s top sporting estates, offering outdoor pursuits like golf, fishing, falconry, and more — plus Michelin-starred cuisine, an award-winning spa, and a robust social calendar. The iconic property is also dedicated to making a difference in its community through partnerships with organizations like Social Bite and Anchor House.”
Gleneagles first opened its doors in 1924. The five-star luxury hotel has 205 beautiful bedrooms and 28 luxury suites located in the rolling hills of Scotland.
“We are over the moon to have won this esteemed award from Virtuoso, which celebrates the very best travel experiences in the world,” said Managing Director, Conor O’Leary. “It not only recognizes the exceptional daily commitment that our entire Gleneagles family has to providing remarkable service and exceptional experiences but also drives us to remain one of the very best hotels in the world. From our family activity programs, glorious playground of country pursuits, our newly renovated spa, to our range of fine dining, we aim to ensure each guest has a truly memorable stay.”
Known as one of the greatest names in the world of golf, there are three championship golf courses and one 9-hole course. Gleneagles has been a recent host of The Ryder and Solheim Cups.
The 10 restaurants and bars have something for everyone with everything from bar snacks and brasserie classics to family fare and fine dining.
Whether you want to relax and unwind or get in a workout, the hotel has a day spa, a resident spa, gym, pool, and a beauty lodge.
