Amtrak is offering a flash sale this week allowing two passengers to travel for the price of one when they book a private room aboard select trains.
Customers must book by Monday, March 21, and plan to travel between now and May 22 to take advantage of the deal.
“Private rooms provide travelers with a first class, one-of-a-kind experience to see the country,” Roger Harris, executive vice president and chief marketing and revenue officer, said in a statement. “With our nationwide Roomette flash sale, customers can travel comfortably in their own space and share the experience with a companion across several world-famous routes and to many great destinations.”
The sale is available for travel aboard the California Zephyr, Capitol Limited, Cardinal, City of New Orleans, Coast Starlight, Crescent, Empire Builder, Lake Shore Limited, Silver Star, Southwest Chief, Sunset Limited, and Texas Eagle routes.
Roomettes are a good choice for passengers seeking privacy on a longer trip. They feature two seats by day and upper and lower berths by night, along with a big picture window to watch America go by.
Roomettes also feature upgraded towels and linens, access to a restroom and shower, and a dedicated attendant. Passengers also get unlimited lounge access, complimentary meals, and priority boarding.
Among the sample fares for two passengers for this flash sale:
- Denver–Chicago, $365
- Los Angeles–Seattle, $432
- New York–Atlanta, $407
- Sacramento–Salt Lake City, $239
- Minneapolis–Chicago, $193
- Chicago–New Orleans, $319
- Philadelphia–Tampa, $479
Interested passengers should book their trips using a special webpage, or by booking on the Amtrak app using code C450 at checkout.
“Leave behind the traffic and car horns and let Amtrak do the rest,” the company says.
But the clock is quickly ticking on this deal.
