A family visiting New Zealand captures amazing video footage — thanks to a sneaky bird!
Video Adventure
The family was inside Fiordland National Park watching the birds when the son decided to put the GoPro on a railing. That’s when a parrot flew by and snatched it! Luckily, the GoPro was still filming, so it captured the bird’s entire flight.
At first the family was in shock, but quickly started running after the bird. The mother, Alex Verhuel, says the bird flew straight for a bit, then stopped on a tree branch. When the bird heard them approach, it dropped the camera onto some rocks. Amazingly, the camera was intact and still filming!
“The luck of him holding it, looking at his body, rather than just up into the sky,” Verheul told a local television broadcast. “They’re fascinating. They just call out to you and follow you and fly around. It’s quite hilarious.”
