A day at Disneyland can be an exhausting experience, so being in shape to make a day — and night — of it is essential. And to help visitors get in shape for a day of adventure, Disney is offering a series of group activities to begin the day in Southern California.
These aren’t your normal fitness classes. Disney’s new fitness classes will take place in settings you won’t find anywhere else, including inside Disney California Adventure before it opens for guests for the day.
“It’s going to be exciting moves and an exciting class,” said Shinobu Tygi, a fitness instructor who said boot camp will include a variety of exercises, such as jumping jacks in Avengers Campus.
Other offerings include yoga classes, guided meditation, stretching, boot camps, paddle boarding, and more.
In total, there are more than a dozen classes, all 30 to 45 minutes in length, offered through Tenaya Stone Spa and the fitness center at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. The classes are available to guests staying at any of the Disney properties.
Among the highlights:
Power Walking Workout
Participants can begin their day inside Disney California Adventure with a 60-minute walk through the park. But this is no casual stroll. Participants will move at a 15- to 18-minute per mile pace for 2 miles.
Boot Camp In The Park
This high-intensity workout takes place inside Disney California Adventure, with a 45-minute session. Participants jog around the park with breaks for push-ups, squats, and sit-ups. This will get the blood flowing before a day of adventure.
Obstacle Challenge
Enter the park early and take on the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. This 45-minute session includes obstacles like crawling, jumping, climbing, and running. You can work on your balance and strength during the session.
Awakening Yoga
Complete a 45-minute session overlooking Disney California Adventure Park from the roof of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. It is designed for all skill levels and features a variety of yoga styles.
Other Highlights
Close to a dozen other classes are available at sites outside the park, including Disney Ears Yoga, a morning yoga session in which participants are encouraged to wear the trademark head attire; and Aqua Yoga, which takes place on a paddle board in the fountain pool.
There are also a variety of stretching, meditation, and other offerings available daily.
Fitness classes are for anyone 18 or older. Teens aged 14 to 17 can participate if accompanied by an adult and have written consent from the adult.
