“Nobody puts Baby in the corner” has lived for 35 years since that now-famous line was uttered in Dirty Dancing. Now, visitors can see where that corner actually was, and where nearly every other scene from the 1987 movie was filmed.
Taking place at the fictional Kellerman’s in the Catskills, Dirty Dancing continues to capture the imagination of viewers. Kellerman’s is actually the Mountain Lake Lodge in Pembroke, Virginia.
Visitors can now check in to the lodge and have the time of their lives experiencing portions of the film.
Mountain Lake Lodge has two different packages available: the Kellerman’s Film Package or the Dirty Dancing Themed Weekend Package.
“Step back in time and walk in the footsteps of Johnny and Baby,” the lodge says of the Kellerman’s package.
The two-night deal includes welcome cocktails in souvenir Kellerman’s glasses, a gift bag with a Kellerman’s beach towel, a Dirty Dancing-themed scavenger hunt, a special screening of the film, and a $200 dining credit.
The Dirty Dancing-themed weekends take place on select dates in 2022 and 2023, allowing guests to “step in Johnny Castle and Baby’s dancing shoes for the weekend.”
Guests will stay in Kellerman’s Mountain House for the weekend and take part in a number of activities, including dance lessons and a dance party in Mary’s Barn.
The lodge, whose history dates back to 1851, is set on a 2,600-acre nature preserve and is located about 10 miles from the campus of Virginia Tech University.
The lodge and the film are about to get a dose of attention thanks to a new reality show debuting this month. Eight celebrities will take part in a competition show, The Real Dirty Dancing.
Filmed at the lodge, the show will re-create memorable scenes and dances from the movie as the competitors compete to become the winning Baby and Johnny.
Celebrities taking part include Brie Bella, Corbin Bleu, Tyler Cameron, Cat Cora, Howie Dorough, Antonio Gates, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, and Loni Love. It will be hosted by dancer-choreographer Stephen “tWitch” Boss.
“Viewers will be delighted to see familiar scenes and backdrops at this iconic Virginia property, while they watch their favorite stars re-live some of the most memorable moments from the film,” said Rita McClenny, president and CEO of the Virginia Tourism Corporation.
