The grand opening of the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser resort at Walt Disney World is one of the resort’s most eagerly anticipated events of 2022, and for good reason. After all, Disney explains that during the immersive experience, you and your group will take part in a “first-of-its-kind Star Wars adventure that’s your own.”
While the resort doesn’t open until next March, Walt Disney World just announced that one contest winner will get to visit the resort before its grand opening.
“As part of the ongoing ‘Star Wars Bring Home The Bounty’ campaign, Lucasfilm Consumer Products is partnering with Walt Disney World Resort and Lucasfilm Publishing to give one lucky winner the ultimate adventure: A chance to win a 2-night experience on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser before it opens in March 2022, and an exclusive meet-and-greet with the authors of Star Wars: The High Republic,” Lyssa Hurvitz, publicity manager, Publishing & Digital Media, wrote on the Disney Parks Blog.
“In case you don’t know what Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is, it’s a revolutionary, first-of-its-kind 2-night experience where you arrive at a special terminal at the Walt Disney World Resort and then board a launch pod to the Halcyon starcruiser to journey further into a Star Wars adventure than you ever dreamed possible,” Hurvitz explains. “It takes place during the era of the First Order, as the Resistance fights against the threat to the New Republic, but the Halcyon itself has a much longer history in a galaxy far, far away”
The sweepstakes is open until 11:59 p.m. Eastern on December 14. The winner will be announced during a special Star Wars: The High Republic livestream event on January 4, hosted by StarWars.com.
The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Experience
A stay at the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be an immersive experience. For example, while aboard the Halcyon starcruiser, one of the highlights for guests is sure to be the interactive lightsaber training sessions, where guests over the age of seven will be able to learn to use a lightsaber.
Then, also while they are aboard the Halcyon starcruiser, guests will meet several new Star Wars characters, as well as legacy Resistance heroes Chewbacca and Rey. Then again, Kylo Ren of the First Order may also show up.
The main event, however, is an excursion to the remote planet Batuu so guests can visit the Black Spire Outpost. Foreshadowing events in the interactive activities back on the Halcyon, Disney explains that “your missions throughout Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge — including your adventures on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run — will influence events back on the starcruiser.”
What You Can Win In The Sweepstakes
The grand prize winner of the Star Wars Bring Home the Bounty: Galactic Starcruiser Sweepstakes will receive round-trip airfare for up to four people to Orlando, Florida, for a 4-day, 3-night vacation to Walt Disney World Resort. That trip includes a 2-night experience on a test voyage of the Galactic Starcruiser in February 2022.
The winner of the grand prize will also get to experience a separate meet-and-greet opportunity with all five authors of The High Republic books and comics.
Two first-prize winners will receive a LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series AT-AT construction set; a Star Wars Corkcicle: the Death Star Ice Bucket; Star Wars DIFF Eyewear: Darth Vader 2.0 sunglasses; as well as other prizes.
