The Las Vegas Strip has undergone countless changes through the years, with old hotels demolished and new resorts rising in their place. Through it all, one hotel has stood the test of time.
The Flamingo Las Vegas, famously opened by Bugsy Siegel in 1946, remains a focal point in the center of the Strip. The hotel, now owned by Caesars Entertainment, has a series of specials to mark its 75th anniversary.
“With 75 years of rich history, including some of the biggest names in entertainment on the famed Strip, Flamingo Las Vegas has continued to evolve and thrive, though most of the resorts built around its era are long gone,” Dan Walsh, senior vice president and general manager of Flamingo Las Vegas, said in a statement.
Special Room Rates
The hotel, which turns 75 on December 26, is offering a variety of specials to allow customers to celebrate the milestone, starting with some highly discounted rates in the 3,500-room hotel.
Customers have two options:
- Stay in a standard room with views of either the garden, city, or High Roller for 2 nights for $75.
- Stay in a mini suite or premium room for one night for $75.
In both cases, customers must book by December 22 and travel by March 3. Some dates, including most weekends, are not part of the promotion.
Social Media Giveaway
The Flamingo is also holding a social media sweepstakes, giving away a number of prize packages. Past guests are asked to share a photo of a favorite memory from the Flamingo, tag @FlamingoVegas on Instagram, and use the hashtags #75YearsofFab and #Sweepstakes until December 13.
Winners will be chosen to win a 2-night stay at the hotel, a $300 food and beverage credit, a $250 spa credit, two tickets to a show, and tickets to the nearby High Roller.
Current show offerings at the hotel include Wayne Newton, Piff the Magic Dragon, RuPaul’s Drag Race Live, and the adults-only X Burlesque.
Weddings
Couples can receive $75 off a wedding package for ceremonies taking place through the end of January.
The hotel has three outdoor locations for ceremonies amidst palm trees, waterfalls, and gardens. There is also an indoor venue with a garden theme.
Team Member Appreciation
The hotel will recognize its employees as part of the celebration, holding a daily raffle for prizes as well as a staycation for one winner.
“At the heart of the ongoing success of the resort are our dedicated team members, many of whom have called the Flamingo their home for over 30 years,” Walsh said. “We look forward to showing our gratitude and commemorating this milestone with our team members, guests, partners, and community.”
Holiday Theme
The anniversary just happens to occur as the hotel celebrates the holiday season. Through January 2, it has become a holiday festival.
The Flamingo Wildlife Habitat is adorned with pink and white lights and other ornaments.
A pop-up holiday bar will be open around a fire pit every weekend.
Bars and restaurants throughout the hotel are serving a number of special holiday-themed drinks, including the Bad Santa, a traditional hot chocolate and marshmallow drink with a little bit of whiskey thrown in.
