Guests at the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel at Walt Disney World Resort will be treated to what Disney calls an “immersive experience” where “you and your group will embark on a first-of-its-kind Star Wars adventure that’s your own.”
One of the highlights is sure to be meeting beloved Star Wars characters while aboard the Halcyon starcruiser. For instance, Disney has already explained that guests may meet legacy Resistance heroes Chewbacca and Rey. Then again, depending on how the immersive events play out, Kylo Ren of the First Order may also show up.
Part of the excitement, however, is that a host of characters new to the Star Wars galaxy — created just for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser — will also be on-hand, and you can interact with them.
Jeremy Schoolfield, managing editor, Walt Disney World Resort Public Relations, recently introduced some of those characters on Disney Parks Blog. They range from the Halcyon starcruiser’s captain and cruise director to a lieutenant from the First Order. Plus, there are even new droids.
Let’s take a look at some of the new characters you’ll be able to interact with while aboard the Halcyon starcruiser.
Riyola Keevan, Halcyon’s Captain
Captain Keevan, who is “charismatic, respected, and trustworthy,” leads the Halcyon, Schoolfield explains.
Keevan is “a strong and decisive leader, endearing herself to both her crew and her passengers by being fair to all and cool under pressure — a skill she’s learned from her ‘adventurous’ history,” Schoolfield notes. “You’ll likely find the captain on the ship’s bridge — and you’d be wise to listen carefully and follow her instructions.”
Lenka Mok, Halcyon’s Cruise Director
There’s a lot to see and do aboard the Halcyon, and it’s Mok’s job to help you discover everything.
“As the captain’s right hand, Mok is in charge of onboard entertainment, so it’s her job to make sure your voyage is an adventure,” Schoolfield wrote. “An optimistic and joyful soul, Mok’s happiness is derived from yours, so she is definitely someone you’ll want to meet!”
Droid SK-62O, Assistant Cruise Director
“This astromech droid is Mok’s assistant cruise director, and he works to ensure things run smoothly and on time. SK-62O keeps an eye on all the workings of the ship and is devoted to Mok and Captain Keevan,” Schoolfield wrote. “While he loves to have fun with guests, he’s also good in a pinch if anything should go awry — and that’s just one of his many hidden talents.”
Sammie, A Ship’s Mechanic
Although Sammie is a skilled mechanic, that’s not why people like him so much.
“Sammie’s enthusiasm and good-natured personality quickly won over the starcruiser’s crew, and that’s also why he’ll be so popular with guests who happen across his path,” Schoolfield explains. “He’s clearly eager to prove himself on such a well-appointed vessel, and his tasks always seem to get done … somehow.”
Droid D3-O9
SK-62O isn’t the only droid aboard the starcruiser; there’s also D3-O9.
“D3-O9’s primary responsibility is running ship logistics, so she certainly knows everyone and everything happening onboard during a voyage, but her favorite part of the job is talking with passengers,” Schoolfield points out. “Built centuries ago by Chandrila Star Line’s founder, D3 has seen the ship’s history — and the entire galaxy — evolve, and she’s not shy about sharing her knowledge and opinions with passengers.”
First Order Lieutenant Harman Croy
While the Halcyon starcruiser is a pleasure vessel, guests will need to remember that the First Order and the Resistance are fighting, and conflict is everywhere. First Order Lieutenant Harman Croy boards the Halcyon soon after guests arrive.
“The ambitious and intimidating Lieutenant Croy is on special assignment to root out and expose any Resistance fighters who are rumored to be aboard the ship,” Schoolfield wrote. “Will you help him? Will you support the Resistance? Will you just sit back and see how the whole thing plays out? The choice is yours.”
