Can you believe it’s been more than 30 years since 8-year-old Kevin McCallister was accidentally left alone in his spacious home in the Chicago suburbs while his family went on vacation to Paris? Indeed, Home Alone debuted back in 1990, with Macaulay Culkin starring as the mischievous (but clever!) little boy who stymies two persistent burglars before his family realizes their mistake and returns home from Europe on Christmas morning.
A luxury hotel in the Chicago burbs of Lake Forest, Illinois, is celebrating this beloved Christmastime movie with a special package inspired by Kevin’s antics. Guests who splurge on the Cornwall Suite at the Deer Path Inn and ask for the “Lost in Lake Forest!” package will enjoy the following during their stay:
- A pair of Deer Path Inn bathrobes to take home
- An in-room screening of Home Alone, including homemade pizza and sides
- A gift box of specialty treats from local Sweet’s of Lake Forest
- Gift cards for holiday shopping to the Lake Forest Bookstore and other local boutiques
- An elevated twist on nostalgic childhood snacks served in-room, including gourmet popcorn and boozy milkshakes
- Complimentary roundtrip transportation via Range Rover to experience the Chicago Botanic Garden’s Lightscape annual event
The package is available from November 26, 2021, to January 2, 2022. Pricing for the limited-availability package, as well as room rates for the upscale and luxurious Cornwall Suite, which will “leave you feeling like the honored guest of a weekend party at an elegant English country estate,” is not published online. You’ll need to call the property to get cost details for your dates of stay.
Deer Path Inn Is Historic And Upscale
The Deer Path Inn was built in 1929 and styled after a 15th-century manor house in Kent, England. It’s since been renovated with plenty of modern-day conveniences, but retains its British flair and luxury appointments and amenities.
For example, rooms have sophisticated furnishings with floor-to-ceiling drapery, Frette linens, and all-stone bathrooms. Dining takes place in the elegant English Room or the casual White Hart Pub. Another spot to gather is simply known as The Bar, where the holiday-themed cocktail menu will include the Snowfall (inspired by tres leches cake and garnished with rosemary and sugar cranberries) and Adult Red Velvet Hot Cocoa (an indulgent and adults-only take on a childhood classic). Traditional afternoon tea is available and it features scones, tarts, and savory finger sandwiches.
The property has an outdoor English garden, popular for warm-weather wedding ceremonies. Complimentary bicycles are available for guests of the Lake Forest Inn. Just 1.3 miles away is Lake Forest Beach on the banks of Lake Michigan.
