After the COVID-19 pandemic forced NYC Restaurant Week to alter its winter version into a “to-go” event earlier this year, the beloved semiannual celebration of restaurants in the Big Apple is back this summer with on-site dining and prix-fixe meal specials at hundreds of eateries across the five boroughs.
NYC Restaurant Week takes place July 19 to August 22. Restaurants offer special meals (entree plus one side) for $21 or $39. New this year is a $125 Signature Dining Experience, where a restaurant puts together a three-course (or more) meal, sometimes with added perks, like meeting the chef or off-the-normal-menu items included.
Restaurants can choose to provide special pricing for lunch or dinner — or both. They can run the specials in just some or all of the four scheduled weeks. Typically restaurants participate in NYC Restaurant Week Monday through Friday. Saturdays are excluded from the program, and Sunday participation is optional.
Whet Your Appetite With These Amazing Special Deals
More than 500 restaurants are participating in NYC Restaurant Week 2021. All of them are listed here, and you can sort restaurants by location, amenities (such as outdoor seating), and cuisine. The variety of restaurants is remarkable — deals to suit all palates, with the opportunity to sample a new-to-you restaurant with cuisine you may not have tried before.
Types of food range from Asian fusion and French to Middle Eastern and Ukranian. There are pizza places, burger shacks, and coffee shops. Get fancy at a favorite steakhouse or pop into a well-known chain restaurant.
Consider longtime neighborhood staple Sarabeth’s Upper West Side for brunch, served all day, seven days a week. Take in the views of New York Harbor at South Street Seaport’s Watermark Bar. Head to Queens to dine at Telly’s Taverna, an Astoria original.
You can even select from more than two dozen James Beard Award nominees, semifinalists, or winners, like the Meatpacking District’s Catch NYC, whose executive chef is a Top Chef winner; La Barra, known for its Spanish tapas, in Hudson Yards; or famous Tribeca Grill, co-owned by Robert De Niro.
Given the popularity of ordering takeout food while on-site dining was limited during pandemic restrictions, many restaurants are also offering deals for meals to go.
If you’re keen to dine on site, NYC Restaurant Week organizers suggest booking reservations at your restaurants of choice as soon as possible.
