If you’ve got the time and the money, Uniworld Boutique River Cruises has fashioned the ultimate trip for anyone who wants to see the world: 46 days, nine countries, five ships, and two continents.
The Rivers of the World Cruise will start in Egypt and finish in Portugal, giving travelers glimpses of Africa and Europe over the course of nearly seven weeks with both river and land experiences.
The 46-day cruise departs May 20, 2023, and comes with a starting price of $38,999 per person for a French Balcony stateroom.
“At Uniworld, we always have elevation at top of mind and strive to continuously take steps forward in fresh and exciting ways,” said Ellen Bettridge, Uniworld President and CEO. “We’re so proud to announce the inaugural Rivers of the World itinerary, our longest and most action-packed sailing to date.”
Passengers are responsible for arranging their own transportation to Cairo for the start of the trip, and from Lisbon at the conclusion of the journey on July 5, 2023.
The adventure begins with a hotel stay in Cairo and an opening event before voyagers will set off for 11 days on the Nile River aboard the S.S. Sphinx. They’ll be joined by an Egyptologist and explore several ancient wonders, including the temples at Abu Simbel.
Passengers will then fly to the Swiss Alps to stay in Lugano, located on the border of Switzerland and Italy. You’ll get a land tour of Milan before setting sail on the Venice Lagoon and Po River for an 11-day cruise through Northern Italy on the S.S. La Venezia.
Part three takes travelers through Germany, Austria, and Hungary as they’ll cruise through the former Holy Roman Empire aboard the S.S. Mother Theresa. Among the stops and activities: a private tour of the Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna.
The fourth part takes voyagers to France and the River Seine aboard the S.S. Joie de Vivre for seven days. They’ll explore a number of towns in Northern France and the beaches of Normandy, then end up in Paris where they’ll see a show at the Moulin Rouge.
The journey concludes in Spain and Portugal with experiences in the Duoro River Valley during 11 days aboard the S.S. Sao Gabriel. The itinerary includes stops in Sintra and Cascais before finishing with a land tour of Lisbon and a closing event.
“It’s an itinerary like none other, and true vacation of a lifetime with surprises at every turn,” Bettridge said.
Of course, Uniworld offers other incredible cruises, too, and you don’t have to wait until 2023 to climb aboard. Learn about their Europe Mystery Cruise, the hot ticket for fall 2022, here.
