Gideon's Bakehouse
If you absolutely love cookies and are going to be at Disney Springs, get ready for some good news — really good news.
The cookie hot-spot Gideon’s Bakehouse has introduced a new cookie. Celebrating the flavors of Florida, the Orange Pecan Chocolate Chip Cookie is a Limited Edition cookie that is only available this month. Oh, and by the way, each cookie weighs a half-pound!
“Our vanilla bean cookie dough is fused with orange and mixed with our favorite dark chocolates,” Steve Lewis, owner and Sublime Prince of the Esoteric Order of Cookie at Gideon’s Bakehouse, told TravelAwaits. “To add some crunch, the exterior is covered in delightful south Florida pecan pralines and a very special candied orange peel.”

A Unique And Special Recipe
The recipe for the cookie was brought to Gideon’s by Stuart Valencia, the legendary Florida Orange Boy, Lewis said. For “those in the know, you can simply call this one Stuart’s Cookie.”
Lewis said the legend of Stuart Valencia is a warning for anyone who hasn’t been told that “swallowing [orange] seeds may cause a tree to grow in you.” Here’s why.
“As a pale, sickly boy, Stuart was given oranges to help bring a bit of color back to his deathly pallor. This worked like a charm. Believing you can never get enough of a good thing, he ate oranges for breakfast, lunch, and dinner — no part of the orange was spared,” Lewis explained. “As the months and years changed, so did Stuart, transforming into the living embodiment of ‘you are what you eat.’ Being part orange tree and part forever boy, Stuart has lived for generations in the groves of Florida, content in his solitude until now — when he appeared at Gideon’s Bakehouse with a very special recipe he wants to share with the world.”

Know Before You Go
Gideon’s Bakehouse has won a number of awards. For instance, it won The Boston Globe’s Best Place in the World to get a Cookie award in 2020, received the Best Bakery Award from Orlando Magazine, and one of its cookies was listed in the Top 10 Best Cookies in the U.S. by a Sports Illustrated article, a People article reports.
Gideon’s Bakery has two locations: An original location in Orlando and the newer store in Disney Springs. If you plan to visit the store at Disney Springs and want some of Stuart’s Cookies, plan on going early.
“We open at 10 a.m., but the line typically begins to form at 9 a.m., when the parking garage opens,” Lewis explained. “Limited edition items [such as Stuart’s Cookies] sell out each day, so there is a limit of two per paying guest. The earlier you arrive, the better your chances of seeing the cookies in stock!”
