When it comes to unique vacation destinations, one would be hard-pressed to top what you will find waiting for you at this Airbnb. Imagine Peter Pan’s Neverland mixed with a private Hawaiian island, add a dash of any locale from the show Survivor, and sprinkle in your favorite Disney park. That’s the recipe for what has become the most wish-listed Airbnb in California.
Listed as the Pirates of the Caribbean Getaway, this real-life, magical fantasy world is located in the heart of Topanga Canyon, which is just a 15-minute drive from Santa Monica and 30 minutes from LAX. The getaway is available for overnight or weekly rentals — if you can find an open date.

Host Darrell has meticulously created this small paradise featuring an enchanting 1-bedroom guest house surrounded by a tropical setting with several waterfalls, ponds, island statues, and palm trees — and enough plants and vegetation to make you feel like you’re on your own private island.
The guest house is surrounded by a beautiful canopy of trees and includes a queen-size bed for up to two guests, a full bath, a kitchenette with a mini-fridge, a stove, a Keurig coffee maker, and assorted dishes, pots, and pans. The rustic interior is in line with the theme, and has an exposed bamboo roof. The unit does not have air conditioning but does have ceiling fans in the bedroom.

But, you will want to spend as little time in the guest house as possible, as you explore your inner Jack Sparrow and this little slice of paradise. A wooden walkway will lead you to discover your own private teepee for outdoor lounging, along with swinging chairs, hammocks, a wood fire pit, as well as your own private hot tub and a newly installed cedar wood sauna.
But, it’s night you’ll long for, when the entire property takes on a new identity.

Darrell has painstakingly placed lighting in strategic areas to transport the guest to another world within the fantasy world he’s already created.
Also of note: The property was featured in a music video by Cody Simpson. You can view that below:
Know Before You Go
Your host Darrell has specific rules and regulations that all guests must adhere to, including no guests, no children, and no smoking. He is very specific about making sure potential guests are clear on the rules before booking and is very clear that no exceptions will be made at any time.
Rules aside, guests have posted their recommendations for others, including packing light and wearing comfortable shoes due to the stairs. But, most say to come with the intent of relaxing and allow the space to transport you to your own private, pirate island. For more Airbnb inspiration, consider:
