TA: How many years have you been traveling and what got you hooked?

Carol: I've been traveling ever since I could afford a plane ticket. Travel has always been my passion.

TA: Do you specialize in a particular type of travel?

Carol: I'm a luxury travel blogger with a focus on adventure, fine hotels, spas, and history. That's pretty much everything, isn't it?

TA: What is the best vacation you've ever taken? Where did you go and why did you love it?

Carol: Argggh. This is like asking which is my favourite child. (Except I don't have children.) Visiting the Galapagos Islands with Metropolitan Touring earlier this year was an amazing trip -- where else can you see blue-footed boobies up close? -- and I've always loved the Rocky Mountaineer, a luxury train through the Canadian Rockies.

TA: What's one place you've always wanted to visit?

Carol: The Silk Road.

TA: What's one thing you ALWAYS pack when you travel?

Carol: Ear plugs.

TA: If you could only give a traveler one piece of advice, what would it be?

Carol: Sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone, but always watch your bags.

TA: What are some of your favorite travel blogs and communities?

Carol: I have a lot of friends who are bloggers: Michele at A Taste for Travel, Deb and Dave at The Planet D, and bloggers who've become friends through Instagram like Claudia at My Adventures Across The World.

TA: What would be your #1 recommendation for a place to travel in 2019?

Carol: The Galapagos Islands or Siem Reap.

TA: Do you have any good airport or flight hacks for people traveling by plane?

Carol: Use points to book business class for long hauls -- though it's getting harder and harder.

TA: What is the best piece of travel advice you've ever been given?

Carol: Be adventurous, but never leave your caution at home. (Actually I just made that up.)

TA: Is there something you think most travelers worry too much about?

Carol: If you travel like me, you worry about everything, especially the night before a trip. Sometimes you just have to push through.

TA: What's a travel scam travelers should be wary of?

Carol: If someone bumps you, look down at your bag. I've found a pickpockets hand in my purse this way!

TA: What is the most beautiful and affordable city you've ever visited? (Any specific locations people need to see there?)

Carol: Is any city affordable anymore? I do love Prague, Paris, and New York, none of which are affordable.

TA: Which underrated destination deserves to be more famous?

Carol: Saskatchewan, my home province in Canada. Because we have big skies. And bears.
